Hillary Clinton Campaign Haunted by Bill’s Past

When did America become land of the presidential dynasties. Do we have so few qualified candidates for this position that we must constantly run back to families whose members have already held the job?

Hillary Clinton’s husband, Bill Clinton our 42nd President of the United States did a lot of great things during his time in office. He provided health coverage for millions of children, ordered U.S. military intervention in the Bosnia and Kosovo wars, and even participated in a Camp David Summit for the advancement in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. A subject our current president Barack Obama hasn’t even touched.

But he made a lot of mistakes as President, as a husband and as an employer. Could we see a repeat of these types of poor decisions if Hillary wins.

Whitewater

Prior to Bill Clinton running for President he was governor of Arkansas where friends Jim and Susan McDougal invited them to join an investment deal that eventually went belly up. Then McDougal acquired several banks in the area and attempted to borrow money needed to invest in another local construction project. He hired Hillary Clinton as the lawyer for that project.

But by 1986, federal regulators realized that all of the necessary funds had in fact come from illegal loans from McDougal’s self owned banks. The resulting investigation lead to the bank’s financial collapse causing the federal government to take over at a tune of $73 million dollars. Amazingly, Hillary was never charged although 15 other people including the McDougals were convicted of some 40 crimes.

Travelgate

In 1993, President Bill Clinton fired seven employees of the White House Travel Office and replaced them with close personal friends of the Clintons. Fortunately, heavy media attention foiled their plans and the Clinton’s were forced to reinstate the majority of fired employees and remove their personal friends from the roles.

It was during this controversy that Hillary Clinton came under scrutiny for allegedly having played a central role in the firings and making false statements about her role in it, which led New York Times columnist William Safire to write that many Americans were coming to the “sad realization that our First Lady—a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation—is a congenital liar”.

Filegate

In 1996, Craig Livingstone, director of the White House’s Office of Personnel Security, improperly requested, and received from the FBI, background reports concerning several hundred individuals without asking permission. Many of the files covered White House employees from previous Republican administrations, including top presidential advisors. Allegations were made that the First Lady herself may have requested and read the files for political purposes and it was suggested that Livingstone had been given his position because Hillary was a friend of Livingstone’s mother and personally recommended him.

Sexual Improprieties

Lest we not forget Bill’s wandering eye, which has so often lead to his wandering hands and finally to that cigar. Ugh! That cigar!! In 1998, Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives for perjury and obstruction of justice relating to the scandal involving White House employee Monica Lewinsky. But that was just the tail end of his sexual exploits as he had previously been accused of raping a woman at Oxford while he was a Rhodes Scholar and accused of raping another woman in the late 70’s who volunteered for his Arkansas campaign for governor. In all the allegations made against him regarding his sexual history, Clinton has only admitted extramarital relationships with Monica Lewinsky and Gennifer Flowers. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. A cheater cheats and we are about to elect a woman who decided to stay with the cheater instead of throwing him to the curb. What can we expect from her when confronted with real male chauvinistic pigs like Vladimir Putin who will look at her as being weak for maintaining a relationship with a known cheater.

NAFTA

But now onto the serious stuff. Cause you see there’s just two things I can’t get out of my head when it comes to Bill Clinton. First, he’s responsible for signing NAFTA, the trade agreement that has conclusively lost America over 700K jobs. On the day that he signed the bill he’s quoted as saying “NAFTA means jobs. American jobs, and good-paying American jobs. If I didn’t believe that, I wouldn’t support this agreement.” Well Bill, you were wrong and you should apologize to the American people because those same people that lost their manufacturing jobs because of NAFTA are lining up for a Donald Trump rally. Yeah, you caused that.

And now Hillary Clinton if elected President will have the dubious distinction of being the second Clinton to sign another horrible trade agreement when the TPP hits her desk.

The second thing I can never forgive or forget from Bill’s time as President is the hiring of Janet Reno for Attorney General. Her handling of the Branch Davidians in Waco Texas was on the level of a war crime. She is responsible for authorizing the FBI assault that lead to the deaths of 76 people: men, women and children, based solely on a report that Militia groups were en route to either help or attack the religious group.

Reno was also responsible for the disastrous handling of Elián González, the six-year-old whose mother and stepfather had died trying to escape Cuba and even though his U.S. relatives had lost custody to his father in court, local officials didn’t enforce the ruling. Instead Janet Reno made the decision to physically remove Elián González from his relative’s house using an armed SWAT team.

It’s decisions like these that have me so concerned that history will repeat itself and all of the Clinton’s friends will line up for jobs in the White House. Cause the Clinton’s don’t care about rules. They feel they don’t apply to them. And that’s the sign of megalomania.
