Tuesday, November 22nd

The White House * 2:30PM ET –First Lady Michelle Obama will attend the Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the Nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

 

Friday, November 25th

North Portico * 11:00AM ET – First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome the Official White House Christmas Tree to the White House.

This year’s White House Christmas Tree, which will be on display in the Blue Room, is a 19 foot Douglas Fir donated by a tree farm in Pennsylvania. The tree will be presented to Mrs. Obama by Dave and Mary Vander Velden of Oconto, Wisconsin, the 2016 winners of the National Christmas Tree Association national tree contest.

Members of the National Christmas Tree Association have presented the official White House Christmas Tree for display in the Blue Room since 1966.

 

Tuesday, November 29th

The White House * 9:30AM – The Office of the First Lady will host a preview of the 2016 holiday decor at the White House. This includes an opportunity for photography and videography along the public White House holiday tour route. The First Lady will not be in attendance.

The White House * 1:30PM – As part of the Joining Forces initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome military families to the White House to view the 2016 holiday decorations. As in years past, several of the White House holiday decorations will honor military families.

Mrs. Obama will deliver remarks in the East Room.  She will then be joined in the State Dining Room by White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford, White House Executive Pastry Chef Susan Morrison, and White House Chief Floral Designer Hedieh Ghaffarian who will make holiday crafts and treats with the children.
