What's Up With Food Stamp Commercials?

President Obama is trying to get more people enrolled in the Food Stamp Program (SNAP).  George Bush did the same thing.  Currently more than one in seven Americans is receiving Food Stamps.  What’s up?

There is of course no transparency in the program at all, so where the billions are going is any body’s guess.  There are many small retailers who are lobbying for an increase in participation so that they can sell more goods, but that’s not the only group likely to benefit.

Criminals know that Food Stamps, particularly when issued in the billions of dollars, provide a very good place to launder money, finance nefarious activities and to defraud a government which can’t seem to keep tabs on to whom the money is going or where it is being “spent”.

So when the President spends millions running TV ads trying to recruit more people into the program, isn’t it fair for those of us who are paying the tab on the program to ask, “What’s up with THAT?”
