What Will The Media Accomplish?

Media polls have given the race to Obama already.  They report that he is up in Ohio by 10 and Florida by 9. Stories suggest that Romney is having trouble with the white middle class.  If you are the type to believe the media, then you would likely conclude that the race is over.  What does this accomplish?

Well, if you are the type to believe the media then odds are you are pretty lazy when it comes to discovering the truth.  You likely don’t fact check stories, listen or read both sides of a situation, you allow yourself to be spoon-fed rather than feeding yourself and you would probably fall for this trickery.  And so, how would this impact the REAL election?

Well, it could make lazy people lazier and they wouldn’t see any reason to go vote.  It could inspire a lot more anti-Obama people to get busy trying to change the outcome.  But this kind of biased news could suppress enough votes in both of those camps to give Obama a slight edge, and that’s the very risky game the press is playing.

As I’ve said before, there are only two choices in this race:  Obama and Not Obama.  If you are inclined to see that it is Not Obama, then cash a week of your vacation, go to Ohio, volunteer to help the Romney Ryan ticket and see if you can’t get the results you prefer.

Or, you could sit on the couch and let the media decide the race for you, in between stories about the NFL officiating.
