Ohio's Issues 1 and 2 - Why Are They Important?

I have been saying that the Republicans and Democrats have become two factions of the same party for quite some time now; maybe this will help you understand why I feel that way.
“If you have a chance, please click on the link below to today’s posting on National Review Online.  Aside from the fact that I’m quoted, it makes for some interesting reading. National policy and local issues do intersect, this is increasingly becoming the case.

If you believe the theory that social policy begins in California, take note of Prop 31 on the ballot out there. It is just the same type of regionalism we have been urged to adopt here – local tax redistribution on a regional scale, and central land use and zoning planning. Except out there it is sponsored by the GOP minority,  because the issue itself is cloaked in all kinds of “good government” types of issues, with this bad deal hiding inside – kind of like hiding your dogs heartworm pill in several layers of yummy bacon!

This is how it will come down in Ohio! I have talked with enough state lawmakers to fear the GOP side more than the Dems on regionalism. They honestly think that “allowing” the “sharing” of local-voted taxes with another city (it is against the State Constitution now) will help Ohio. Most don’t understand what is at stake. Once this is allowed, the feds will make  “voluntary” sharing mandatory by attaching strings on every dollar they send our way, and every policy from transportation to air quality, contingent on a new regional government layer.  I hope this article helps point out the stakes.” — Alex Keleman, Hudson OH

A Heritage Club member also says;

“Please read the article sent out on October 2nd by the National Review.  It tells the story and background of President Obama’s plan to force suburbs to share their taxes with large metropolitan cities.  This is Agenda 21.  His plan is to also force people out of suburbs and back into the large “core” cities controlled by REGIONALISTS and their Agenda 21 philosophy. The article also mentions the 2007 involvement of the NORTHEAST OHIO AREAWIDE COORDINATING AGENCY (NOACA) which I wrote about last month as an Agenda 21 Agency representing Lake and Geauge counties among the five counties it represents in Northeast Ohio.  The article also discusses the REGIONAL PROSPERITY INITIATIVE  (RPI) which I have discussed on many occasions. Finally Alex Keleman sent a message warning that there as many Republican legislatures as Democratic legislatures pushing for REGIONALISM and forced revenue sharing. I have known Alex for almost four years and he is an avid fighter against Agenda 21.”

This is why Ohio’s Issues 1 and 2 are so important. Groups like NOACA, RPI and others want you and I to allow them to place themselves in positions of authority where they can further their own agenda.  They fancy themselves a Demagogue; “a political leader in a democracy who appeals to the emotions, prejudices, and ignorance of the poorer and less-educated classes in order to gain power. Demagogues have appeared in democracies since ancient Athens.They exploit a fundamental weakness in democracy: because ultimate power is held by the people, nothing stops the people from giving that power to someone who appeals to the lowest common denominator of a large segment of the population.” (Wikipedia) It is imperative that we protect and defend our state sovereignty by participating in the process.

Any time government creates a Commission, Committee, Agency or Forum of non-elected officials, their focus is to separate us, the People, from our Constitutional rights and protection. Don’t give away our power! Vote YES on Issue 1 and NO on Issue 2.

If you don’t think you are over taxed and under represented; “How odd it would be were Ohio’s suburban taxpayers to hand Obama the key to their own undoing. Forewarned is forearmed. Suburban Ohioans, it’s up to you.” — Stanley Kurtz, National Review Online
