For those who are fasting, Serbian Orthodox Lent continues until Holy Communion on Bright Sunday (Easter), 12 April 2015. Confession is an essential part of preparation during Lent and we reprint the these writings from St Dimitri of Rostov.

The author, St Dimitri of Rostov, was born in Kiev and is said to have brought a strong Ukrainian influence into the Russian Orthodox Church in which he became a hierarch, the Archbishop of Rostov. His greatest literary work was Lives of the Saints, a translation and sermons to mark the saints days of every Russian saint. Centuries later, Serbian St. Nikolai Velimirovic would write Prologue from Orhid with individual entries for each of the Orthodox saints.
