The events of the last few days have given me cause for concern and reflection on possible future events. The actions of the coward governor of SC and the scalawag legislators of that state, which holds a special place in my heart, have made it more abundantly clear how dire our situation is. It should be no surprise to us when the historical revisionists and purveyors of cultural genocide descend upon us as locusts on a wheat field. Mark my word: the very existence of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is in the balance!

-Be prepared for a politician to bring it before the US Congress to have our Congressional charter revoked.

-Be prepared for a politician to bring it before the US Congress to have our 501(c)3 tax exempt status revoked. When this is revoked, the City of Biloxi, Harrison County, the state of Mississippi and the federal government will place a tax lien on our beloved Beauvoir for unpaid taxes. What a sad day that will be.

-Be prepared for the IRS to seize our camp checking accounts and any monies or property retained by the various Divisions. They know where we bank and what our account information is. It would be nothing for the IRS to electronically freeze the accounts in the dead of night.

-Be prepared to be required to give a loyalty oath to the USA.

-Be prepared to lose your job because of your association with the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

-Be prepared to lose your security clearance, if required for employment, because of your association with the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

You think I exaggerate the situation? I ask you to consider the events of the last several weeks and then think back to April when we were celebrating Confederate Heritage Month. In April, we had no idea of the coming storm that has engulfed us. But it is here none the less. Camp commanders, speak to your members and prepare them for an onslaught like they have never imagined. Prepare yourselves, Compatriots. I believe this will get much worse before it gets any better.

In any event, keep your wits about you. Don’t let our detractors goad you into confrontations that will give them ammunition to use against us.
