Gene Tenace broke with the A’s in 1969.   He was one of the many very talented young players that turned the A’s into a power house in the early 1970′s.    Most of his career was as a catcher but did play first a lot too.

Overall, Tenace hit .241, 201 HR & 674 RBI in 1,555 games.    Most of those numbers came with the A’s:  121 HR.     His best season was 1975:  29 HR & 87 RBI.

He was great in the 1972 World Series:   MVP, 4 HR & 9 RBI.

We say happy # 70 to Gene Tenace, a member of one of the best teams in major league history:  1972-74 Oakland A’s:
