I don’t think it was done out of desperation, but rather necessity to possibly seal the deal on his Senate re-election campaign.
Senator Marco Rubio has brought out his secret weapon (better half) to help him win his senatorial race against Rep. Patrick Murphy (D), Jeanette.
Aside from being the brains of the whole operation, ring leader, and “jefa” to his four kids, Jeanette Rubio is also a deeply involved in the issue of human trafficking.
The latest Rubio for Senate TV ad features Jeanette talking about the “tragedy” that is the pandemic of human trafficking.
“I am Jeanette Rubio. Of all the things Marco has done, the Girls Count Act is the one thing I am most proud of.
“Marco wrote the law that forces any country in the world that receives American aid to give little girls birth certificates when they are born.
“It doesn’t sound like much, but that one thing could save thousands of girls, and even if it just saves one, it is truly a blessing.”
The Rubio’s work on trying to eradicate human trafficking in Florida dates back to at least 2012, where on one occasion, Marco and Jeanette toured a ‘stash house’ for rescued human trafficking victims, and brought much needed media attention to the problem
Mrs. Rubio, who rarely speaks to press, once spoke about this issue to the Shark Tank.
Anything to do with children and the community, and having to do with helping these girls, I will put my name out there to do whatever I can do to help. – Jeanette Rubio
Rubio has also praised foreign government’s on their efforts to crackdown on human trafficking.
“Human trafficking is a serious problem plaguing our hemisphere, and it’s important that the U.S. continue working with our allies in Colombia to combat this problem. Human trafficking in all its forms is deplorable, especially in instances like this when children are victimized.“
