(Before It's News)

Louis Smith has not violated British law. He has possibly violated Sharia blasphemy laws. And for that, British Gymnastics is moving to punish him. It’s clear who is in control in Britain today. If Louis Smith is indeed fined or suspended, it will make clear that Britain is no longer a free nation.

“Louis Smith could be fined or banned over video that appears to show Olympic gymnast mocking Islam,” by Simon Briggs, Telegraph, October 10, 2016:

The four-time Olympic medallist Louis Smith could be fined or suspended by British Gymnastics after a video emerged in which he and fellow gymnast James Carson performed a drunken imitation of a Muslim praying and invoking the prophet Mohammed.

The video – which was recorded at the wedding of another gymnast, Dan Keatings, at the Kettering Park Hotel – shows Carson pulling a rug off the wall and kneeling on it while shouting “Allahu Akbar”. Smith, meanwhile, joins him in an imitation of a muezzin’s call, and also makes a reference to “60 virgins”.

At one point, a woman comes up to Carson – who retired from competitive gymnastics last year – and encourages him to stop his performance, saying “you’re taking the p— actually”. She also says to Smith that “You are not funny,” to which he replies “Yes it is.”

Smith put out an apologetic statement yesterday in which he said “I am deeply sorry for the recent video you may have seen. I am not defending myself, what I did was wrong. I want to say sorry for the deep offense I have caused and to my family who have also been affected by my thoughtless actions.”

But British Gymnastics also released a statement saying that it “does not condone the mocking of any faith or religion and is appalled by such behaviours … Members who break our code of conduct can face suspension or expulsion from our organisation. We will be investigating the behaviours reported.”…
