Endorsing Republican Senator Marco Rubio over a Democrat (any Democrat) like Rep. Patrick Murphy, is a no-brainer for groups like the American Conservative Union (ACU).
The ultra-Conservative organization that puts on the annual CPAC convention in Washington, D.C. has officially backed Rubio’s Senate re-election campaign.
“Marco has shown a consistent commitment to conservative principles and we honor his opposition to tyrants from Cuba to Iran. We need his voice back in the Senate…He led the fight to stop billions in taxpayer bailouts to insurance companies under the ‘risk corridor’ provision of Obamacare—the only victory over Obamacare since 2010. Marco has also made a strong case for conservatism in multiple CPACs, most recently at CPAC 2016. I strongly urge conservatives to support Senator Marco Rubio.”-ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp.
Rubio responded in kind to the endorsement, but forgot to thank Schlapp and the ACU for posting this photoshopped endorsement picture that makes him look younger and thinner.
Rubio is in shape, but c’mon, don’t blow up his ego like this.
“The control of the U.S. Senate is without a doubt one of the biggest fights we are facing as conservatives right now. With this Florida seat comes control of the Senate. I am working hard to ensure we maintain the Senate majority, and I look forward to returning to the Senate to continue working hard on behalf of Floridians.” –Senator Marco Rubio
