Recently, NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzulo was killed while apprehending an ex-con who had taken his estranged wife and 3 year old son hostage. The ex-con was fleeing and crashed his car. As three cops approached the car, Sgt. Tuozzolo saw a gun before the others and called out, “Gun! Gun! Gun!” just before he was gunned down. Sgt. Tuozzolo saved his fellow officers from injury or death. But he lost his own life in the process. NY Daily News
Sgt. Tuozzulo, who was just 3 months away from retirement eligibility, was buried Thursday in Long Island, NY. Some 12,000 people attended the funeral, including many officials and some 10,000 cops.

In the past a funeral for a cop, such as that for Sgt. Tuozzolo, would be greeted with silence from President obama. Trump, in a deeply refreshing change in tone, looks like he will be ending obama’s policy of Presidential indifference to cops dying.
Msgr. Robert Romano said President-elect Donald Trump sent his condolences to Tuozzolo’s widow and sons. Trump called his widow personally, police sources said.
Good. Bloody damn good. And a shift to decency and compassion that is much welcome, much missed, and waaaaaaay overdue.
