It was an off-the-record meeting and between 30 and 40 media people showed up from the major networks. The purpose of the meeting was to let those who have been openly opposing him and spreading lies and innuendo that he had had enough.
In spite of it being supposedly off the record several media people openly complained about the meeting afterwards.
It was like a f−−−ing firing squad,” one source said of the encounter.
“Trump started with [CNN chief] Jeff Zucker and said, ‘I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed,’ ” the source said.”
From the New York Post
The Hill also reported on the meeting. They said that he didn’t ‘Explode in Anger’ the way some had portrayed. Media people are not used to having someone they report on fight back so it probably sounded like anger to them.
No that’s not true at all. I sat right to his left. He did not explode in anger,” Trump aide Kellyanne Conway said Monday, disputing the account during an interview on Bloomberg Politics’s “With All Due Respect.”
“By the way it’s an off the record meeting so whoever said that and mischaracterized it should think twice,” she continued. “But no he did not explode in anger.”
It will be interesting to watch and see if his efforts change anything. My guess is that some will redouble their efforts to damage him while the smart ones will learn something.
This really is unprecedented.
