At 1PM on Friday January 7th Congress is slated to count the Electoral College ballots to officially elect Donald Trump as President… but up to ten House Democrats, led by Rep. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, are planning to challenge the results.

Perlmutter released a statement saying the House Democrats’ protest “is not about trying to stop Donald Trump from becoming President,” but “the fact that our liberty, freedom and democracy were compromised by Russia’s intrusion into America’s election.”

Do they really expect us to believe it’s not about stopping Trump>.

GIVE IT UP..The damned Election is OVER

Politico spoke to Sheila Jackson Lee about the challenge. There’s no surprise that  Sheila Jackson Lee thinks she can over turn the election results. After all, now that Barbara Boxer has retired, Ms.Jackson Lee is he dumbest woman in Congress. Jackson Lee once stood on the floor of the house  discussing how North and South Vietnam are living peacefully side by side, even though there hadn’t been  been a North and South Vietnam since Gerald Ford was President.

According to Politco;

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said in a phone interview that she and her allies plan to challenge the validity of electoral votes in multiple states, where she argued voter suppression tactics may have tainted the outcome. She said a separate batch of challenges will focus on disqualifying electors who may have been ineligible to serve at all.

“This is an American question of justice and fairness and the appropriate running of presidential elections,” Jackson Lee said.

No it isn’t Rep Jackson Lee its an American question of ten Democrats in the house not being smart enough to accept the election results.

According to Politico if the House members secure the backing of a Senator, the House and Senate would have to debate each Electoral College vote. The results cannot  generate a debate unless there is a senator involved (there must be at least one person from each house).

“I certainly think the difficulty will be if we do not secure a senator,” said Jackson Lee, adding that she’s hopeful that the House members’ case will be compelling enough to convince at least one Democratic senator to step forward.

The same gambit was tried in each of the Bush #43 elections

 House members lodged objections to Florida’s decisive electoral votes but couldn’t convince any senators to join them. In 2005, Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones secured support from California Sen. Barbara Boxer to challenge Ohio’s electoral votes, forcing a two-hour debate but ultimately failing to win support.

So based on history and the fact that the Republicans control both houses.

Steny Hoyer told ABC News he would join in with the effort if his colleagues were able to convince a Senator to play with them. He also admitted hat Trump will be president even if the challenge succeeds.

So it’s doubtful that the Dems will be able to stop Donald Trump from becoming POTUS, but in this crazy political year this is just one more crazy political occurrence.
