(Before It's News)

With the rising Islamist-driven attacks around the world by terrorist groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda, including the 2016 mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub  in Orlando, Florida, it was only a matter of time before Governor Rick Scott acted to beef up his anti-terrorism efforts.

Scott held a press conference at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement headquarters in Orlando, announcing that he will ask state legislators to put aside $5.8 million in the  2017-2018 budget aside to hire 46 more FDLE counterterrorism agents.

“A terrorist, inspired by ISIS and filled with hate, stormed into Pulse night club here in Orlando and killed 49…It was an attempt to rip us apart at our seams, to divide us and instill fear in our communities.”- Gov. Rick Scott
