http://google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?tpl=safari&site=theblacksphere.net&hl=en-us In 2015, 96% of the political contributions made by Cornell University employees went to the Liberal candidates or causes.
Now, some students want a committee to explore strategies for improving ideological diversity among faculty members. However, the resolution was narrowly defeated. Basically, forget the ideas of critical thinking, debate, or challenging each other to grow ideologically. Only the Left can teach at Cornell.
That is exactly how the Left is poisoning America. They are infiltrating campuses, brainwashing students into believing in their agendas and the only way they can get away with it is by disallowing an opposing point of view. College used to be the place where you were presented with all the different ideas and challenged to find the one you aligned with. No more! Now it’s get to the Left or else!
The resolution asserts, in part, that “universities ought to be places where debate and dissent exists in order to ensure knowledge is expanded,” explaining that “students can create better arguments and challenge subtle assumptions when dealing with differing viewpoints.”
A number of Cornell College Republicans members also supported the proposal.
Sadly, the resolution was dead-locked and the tie-breaking vote came from Student Assembly President Jordan Berger. He provided the necessary thumbs-down to the proposed diversity initiative, which was defeated by a vote of 10-11-1. Berger didn’t really think diversity of thought was as important as diversity of color or diversity of religion. How important could thoughts be?
The resolution was presented by Mitchell McBride, a government major at Cornell. McBride is outraged that not a single conservative is employed in the Government department, despite the GOP control over the House, the Senate, and now the White House.
Of course the Left came back with the customary “conservative students are allowed to speak out if they have a differing point of view”.
Ahhh, the loving and tolerant Left…
The news is full of examples that might keep McBride from speaking out. It’s apparent, the Left bullies anyone who dares to have a different opinion.
Just look at Joy Villa. Her Conservatism landed her a few death threats after the Grammy’s Sunday. (Although her incredible spike in record sales might give her the last laugh.)
Kirstie Alley was bashed by Leftists when she illuded that the march was too much noise for her.
Political Commentator Tomi Lahren was attacked by Leftists during the inauguration for being a known conservative.
Milo Yanniopoulos, a gay Trump supporter was forced to cancel his event, due to riots.
Scott Sauter was beaten by a black thug for merely lighting a cigarette with a Trump lighter.
The list goes on and on, but we should expect McBride to feel safe voicing his conservatism on his campus?!
Higher Education at its Finest…
Not only is McBride concerned his conservative voice isn’t being heard, but he also worries Cornell hiring practices are not impartial. McBride points out professors might be hired when they lean to the Left and passed over because of Right-wing philosophies. This is a direct violation of civil rights, but Leftists don’t seem to mind violating anyone who opposes them.
As McBride stated after the resolution failed to pass:
“I find it disheartening and demoralizing that my fellow student leaders do not believe in all types of diversity as they claim. Ostensibly, they believe in supporting aspects of diversity that they agree with, but not others,” McBride said in a statement after the meeting. “I hope, albeit doubt, that the leftist faculty of Cornell will take action to resolve this problem of diversity. Maybe our wisest Trustees might finally step up to the plate to resolve the problem which the faculty lets persist.”
According the Cornell Review:
William Jacobson, The Cornell Review’s faculty sponsor and a professor at Cornell Law School, is perhaps Cornell’s most outspoken conservative faculty member and runs the popular legal and political blog Legal Insurrection.
In a statement, Jacobson described the resolution as “moderate and reasonable,” and noted it called for a committee to study the issue and not a specific outcome regarding faculty hiring or makeup.
“The rejection of the Resolution seems to highlight the need for the relief sought in the Resolution,” Jacobson said.
So what happens next? How ’bout a call to action!!
I challenge every conservative to send a message to Cornell University! The point of Higher Education is to provide students with a balanced point of view from which they can extract their own meaning. We can’t continue allowing the Left to control the ideology of our young people. They deserve all the facts before they make a decision. Cornell is Ivy League… the supposed ‘best of the best’… they should do better than be mere puppets of the Left.
I’ve taken the liberty of grabbing that contact information for you.
