(Before It's News)

He calls himself a “political moderate” senator, but in reality, Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) is more liberal than he thinks.

According to Politifact Florida, “Nelson is the 42nd most liberal senator out of 100, according to the National Journal,” whose Heritage Action Scorecard is lower than even self-styled liberal Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Wasserman Schultz’s Heritage score is 11, while Nelson’s is 2.

With the 2018 mid term election right around the corner, Nelson is up for re-election and Republicans are already gunning to unseat the 2-term senator.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has released the first attack ad against Nelson in the 2018 election cycle.

The ad likens him to the popular and uber-liberal Massachusetts Senator, Elizabeth Warren.

Republicans claim that Nelson has voted with Warren 92% of the time.

In other words, Nelson is a true blue, Obama liberal Democrat, and not the moderate that he portrays himself to be.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) is expected to challenge Nelson, leaving many Democrats to consider other options to retain the all important Senate seat.

Scott will have the money to mount a winning campaign, so Democrats are looking at other potential senatorial candidates like college Professor Tim Canova jump in the race.

Canova, who lost to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a contentious Democratic primary race for Congress in 2014, is exploring the possibility of running statewide.

Canova can deliver the goods when it comes to fundraising, which is probably why Democrats see him as a viable alternative to Nelson.
