Gov Scott’s Revenge Tour Against House Republicans

Monday, February 20, 2017 6:25
% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

There is no love lost between Gov. Rick Scott and Speaker Richard Corcoran and his band of legislative banditos, who are currently  trying to scrap Florida’s two business marketing entities, Enterprise Florida and Visit Florida.

Its’ getting down right ugly, as Scott is now calling out each of the nine legislators for supporting a bill that could dissolve his two business entities.

The “Nifty Nine” Republicans that sit on the Careers & Competition Subcommittee in the House are upset that Scott is going around to their respective districts and calling them out for their actions.

The nine are even more upset that Scott is referring to them as politicians.

Why get mad over being called a politician, if that is exactly what you are?

“There’s politicians in Tallahassee — and one of them is your state Rep. Jay Trumbull — who voted to abolish Enterprise Florida and abolish Visit Florida,” Scott said in Panama City on Tuesday. On Monday in Flagler Beach he used the “P” word after calling out Rep. Shawn Harrison, R-Tampa, and Paul Renner, R-Jacksonville.-TB Times

All of these legislators, including the big cheese himself, are politicians.

We all get it. Being called a term that the public demonizes will get under your skin.

Just ask any lobbyist. Lobbyists hate being called lobbyist because of the stigma that is attached to the term. They cringe at the term, preferring to be called “government affairs” representatives or consultants.

If Gov. Scott was trying to land spinning elbows to Corcoran & Co. for pushing a so-called anti-business bill, then mission accomplished.

But to Corcoran’s argument, is the cost of doing business through Enterprise Florida and Visit Florida too high?

Jobs have been created, and outside business have come to Florida, but was it worth the amount of taxpayer dollars spent to lure them here?

These questions will be address, and if the bill reaches Scott’s desk this upcoming legislative session, you can bet your bottom peso that it will get vetoed.
