Rubio Warns of Government Spying of American Tourists In Cuba

When President Obama tried to “normalize” relations with Communist Cuba by opening up US travel to the caribbean island, his administration expected Americans to flock to American ports of entry to vacation in the island nation.

With the way in which the Obama Administration sold their easing of travel restrictions to Cuba, Americans would be dropping everything to travel to the once popular vacation destination of the mid-twentieth century, right?

This mass vacation exodus to Castro’s Cuba never materialized, and now US airlines, which once salivated over possibly banking on a new and promising travel route, are now literally cooling their jet engines over travel to Cuba.

Frontier Airlines and Fort Lauderdale-based Silver Airways have pulled their service to Cuba because of the lack of travel interest to the island.

“Market conditions have failed to materialize there, and excess capacity has been allocated to the Florida-Cuba market.”-Frontier Airlines

“This lack of demand coupled with overcapacity by the larger airlines has made the Cuban routes unprofitable for all carriers.”-Silver Airways (Miami Herald)

One of the most, if not the most outspoken member of the U.S. Congress against Castro’s Cuba is US Senator Marco Rubio.

Don’t expect Rubio to be packing his bags for a weekend excursion to Havana with his wife anytime soon, as the couple would surely be shadowed by Cuba’s shadowy intelligence service, maybe even Raul Castro himself.

In a statement to the Shark Tank regarding lack of  American interest in traveling to Cuba, Rubio outlined the obvious in that the island of Cuba is not the “vacation paradise” with intelligence agents hovering over “every move” tourists make within the confines of the designated and restricted tourism travel areas.

“Cuba is not some wonderful vacation paradise. It’s a virtual prison for 11 million people, crawling with spies watching and following tourists’ every move and limiting their access to areas of the country the regime doesn’t want them to see.”-Sen. Marco Rubio

What could make things worse for all US Airlines still operating in Cuba is if President Trump rescinds Obama’s Cuban travel executive order.

This could very well happen.

“But all of the concessions that Barack Obama has granted the Castro regime were done through executive order, which means the next president can reverse them and that I will do unless the Castro regime meets our demands…Not my demands, our demands. You know what the demands are. Those demands will include religious and political freedom for the Cuban people and the freeing of political prisoners.”- Then-Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump (Sep 16 in Miami, ABC News)
