Trump’s Pick To Be Next US Attorney In Miami May Have Narrowed

With U.S. Attorney Wilfredo Ferrer having stepped down from his post on March 3 of this year, President Donald Trump task of tapping Ferrer’s successor may have gotten a little easier for him.

There are currently four candidates from the Miami-area hoping to be the next U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida: John Couriel, Daniel Fridman, Jon Sale, and Roy Altman.

Of the four men, Couriel is the only one on record of having opposed Trump during his historic 2016 presidential run.

According to an LA Times story regarding how some Republicans were still apprehensive about supporting then-candidate Donald Trump in the general election, the newspaper says that Couriel voted for Bush in the general election, and not Trump.

“Our Republican base hasn’t known quite what to do with Donald Trump,” Couriel said.

Couriel’s solution to the thorny question? He voted for Jeb Bush, the former governor who dropped out of the race during the GOP primary.

Considering that President Trump is a stickler for loyalty, it will be very interesting to see if Trump appoints the pro-Bush Couriel to be the next U.S. Attorney.
