Comey Memo Crime

According to Representative Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), former FBI Director James Comey “appears” to be “confessing to a crime” with this “memo” business about his discussion with Trump over Flynn.

Gohmert said that if – as Comey’s reported memo suggests – President Trump attempted to obstruct the Michael Flynn investigation, then Comey may be guilty of violating 18 U.S. Code Section 4, which states that Comey is required by law to report any attempt – including by the President of the United States – to obstruct a federal investigation.

“If this [memo] happened a couple of months ago then it sounds [like] he has got to report it immediately and I’ve heard no evidence that he reported [it],” Gohmert said.

George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley calls the whole thing a “cover-up in search of a crime.”

While discussing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s role in appointing a special prosecutor to investigate alleged ties between the Trump 2016 presidential campaign and the Russian government on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Turley said the underlying crime isn’t clear given the lack of evidence with the exception of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s indiscretions, which he argued would not warrant special counsel.

“For weeks I’ve questioned the need for special counsel because honestly I still don’t see the underlying crime here,” Turley said. “You know, when we talk about the Russian influence and collusion, there’s not any evidence I’ve seen of collusion but more importantly, no one has articulated a major crime, as opposed to the reporting and registration violations of people like Flynn, which usually wouldn’t warrant a special counsel. But that’s the great mystery here.” 

“You know, with Watergate that people have been talking about, there was a serious crime that began that led to the cover-up,” he continued. “Here you seem to have a cover-up without a crime. That’s what’s so bizarre about the conduct of the White House. It seems to be a cover-up in search of a crime. The problem with the special counsel is what will the special counsel investigate? But having said that, after they fired Comey, my view is that it’s changed, that we do need an independent investigation simply because the White House has created a credibility problem. And lots of Americans believe that there is an effort here to obstruct the investigation.

The Democrats and liberal media are chasing after Comey’s memo because there is no evidence of any crime being committed, nor of any collusion between Trump and Russia.  They made it up, and that is why there is no evidence.  The well has gone dry.  They keep pulling up buckets filled with sand.  Enter, stage left, the shocking memo by Comey, written by Comey and as told by Comey.

On May 3rd, Wolf Blitzer of CNN brought California’s U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in for questioning.  He asked her, “do you believe, do you have evidence that there was in fact collusion between Trump associates and Russia during the campaign?

Dianne Feinstein’s reply? “Not at this time.”

At which point the man behind the curtain put away the tin man’s heart, the lion’s courage and the scarecrow’s diploma, and instead pulled lever number 22, and shouted out, “activate the Comey Memo weapon of mass destruction!”

The poker table was then flipped, and the chips went flying.  The bluff has become a dangerous one, but the Democrats are not holding all of the cards like they think they are.
