The Hidden Islamic War Series: How and Why Muslims Gain Converts In Russia

Dateline Moscow, 2015: There is a secret underground battle for the hearts and minds of the people of Eastern Europe. Low middle-class Russians, Ukrainians and other Slavs of the former East Block convert to Islam to become slaves of violent missions, while others are tempted to join the ranks of Islam. We all tend to assume that things reported in the Media are all there is to worry about but we forget that long before anything becomes news it had to have had a long unreported history first. This article reports from Russia a credible estimate of some 10,000 Slavs who converted to Islam (in about a decade). In the same period, Jehovah’s Witnesses (a Christian sect) converted 150,000 Slavs of the former USSR, but the relative smallness of the number of converts to Islam in the period of 2000-2015 can be misleading. The conversion to Islam and the conversion to a harmless sect of Christianity are two different things, two different beasts, not in the same ballpark. For one, Islam is a form of eastern Puritanism and every further sect that developed out of Islam in the past was by definition puritanical in nature (including the Shi’iah sect). “Puritanism” really denotes fundamentalism, a simplification or a distillation of religious ideas down to their simplest political activist potential. There is always some sort of dry logic of justification behind a puritanical ideology. Every offspring carries the mark of its parent. Islam is no exception. Islam itself emerged out of the mysterious presence of the purist Hanifs who were the adherents of Hanifism, a shadowy Middle Eastern philosophy predating Islam, made up of “pure practitioners of the religion of Abraham.” Their relation with the early Muslims is still an open and somewhat mysterious subject, but our intuition rooted in the experience of World History offers us clear answers about the connection. Purist ideologies are the cradle of fanaticism that demands clear and straight lines of descent back into a mythic and ideal past, such as that of the founder Abraham. History is our witness. Even nationalism reserved for itself some mythic past as a reference. The Nazis had their mythic Aryan Indian past to refer to.

In the name of ideological purity, much destruction was wrought on the world. For instance, the great Iconoclastic Movement of opposition to Christian iconography and all forms of pictorial representation of religious ideas that rocked the Middle East in the 8th century – also originated in Islam. Islam’s presence in Bosnia is a direct consequence of the missionary work of one of the fanatical branches of Iconoclastic pseudo-Christian (Islam-inspired) movements, that of the Bogumils. Except for some ultra-fanatical Christian sects, such as the Branch Davidians, there is nothing in the West that compares to the fervor of Islamic conviction over the centuries, not even the ebullient self-convictions of the English Puritans who were gentlemen at the end of the day. By contrast, Islam’s biography offers us a powerful lineage of brute fanaticism going back into the depths of time. No phenomenon in the world can escape its own nature. Neither can Islam.

Therefore, the conversion of 10,000 into Islam can and does have a far greater impact on history and politics than 150,000 converts to a peaceful and distant Christian sect. The article below offers direct examples of converts who have been caught in the act or found for what they are capable of – because they converted to Islam out of a sense of mission against something.  Their Arab and Central Asian Islamist handlers had no difficulty in making Slavic converts to Islam do their bidding, which easily extended into the realm of violent acts. This is truly worrisome.

Russia: Islam is the wick of “live bombs”

When Russian Army colonel Sergei Sokolov moved from Vladivostok to the Moscow region four years ago he did not realize in his ugliest dreams that his arrival in the city of Dolgoprudnoe would make his life difficult. He got a two bedroom apartment and believed that his beloved son Dmitry would be able to study in one of the capital’s leading universities and later find a good job. The joy was short lived as his only son met over the Internet with Naide Asijalova, a nine years older woman from Dagestan, who is the bloody woman that the whole of Russia found out about on Wednesday, when she set off explosives on a city bus in Volgograd.

To make matters worse, Sergei Vasilyevich Sokolov in his military unit was a deputy superintendent in charge of educational work, and lo and behold – his son switched to the side of the terrorists! His son Dima left the Faculty of Forestry where he studied as he fell mindlessly in love with a woman who was already married to a Turkish guest worker. Dima’s peers at the university say that he avoided them while his parents were trying to persuade him to part ways with a much older Naide Asijalova. Since July 2012, Dima and his parents did not have any contact.

This story of the family Sokolov is not unique, it is not unusual nowadays. While Russian police and army are fighting against religious fanatics in the Caucasus, Muslim recruiters easily recruit naive and immature girls and boys in Russia, but also do their work among other nationalities, all to serve their bloody actions.

Russia’s highest circulation weekly “Arguments and Facts” wrote about it in an issue concerning the recruitment of Slavic girls and boys. Under the heading “New Russian Muslims” this weekly is trying to answer the question of why young men and women go from Christianity to Islam and later become bloody fanatics. “Arguments and Facts” say the phenomenon “of religious transfers” is most common in the south of Russia, where most Muslims live. But experts say that Muslim recruiters do not hesitate to recruit as far north as Yakutia in Russia’s Arctic Circle.

Roman Silantjev, one of the experts on this question, points out that in the last 15 years around ten thousand Russians and members of other Slavic nations received Islam. It is interesting that among the people in Russia who converted to Islam there are mostly Ukrainians.

Most of those new recruits are women. Some of these girls are from mixed marriages where one parent is a Muslim. If it is known that in the last 15 years Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia recruited more than 150,000 people, then the number of those who converted to Islam appears not too worrisome. On the other hand, there is the fact, adds Silantjev, that about two million citizens of Russia who have Muslim roots received Christian Orthodoxy at some point in the past.

The objective of Muslim religious fanatics and their recruiting arms is to win the Russian girls over for Islam to be used later either as sex slaves or “live bombs.” The young Russian converts to Wahhabi Islam are important to the Islamists because their white appearance makes them blend better with the majority of citizens so the police can hardly detect them – explains Silantjev.

Russian police often warn that among the terrorists there are increasingly those of their own stock who converted to Islam, got recruited and trained to use weaponry, plant explosives and kill peaceful people.

Pavel Kosolapov was born in Volgograd region, and when he embraced Islam he became Muhammad. He fought in Chechnya against his own Russian army and police. His group in February 2004 was responsible for four explosions on the main gas pipeline near Moscow. He organized another action, activated explosives in the market in Samara, as well as on the train tracks where the “Nevsky Express” line normally passes and killed a lot of people.

Maksim Ponarin was born in Budapest in a Russian Army officer’s family. He later moved with his parents to Rostov Oblast [in the heart of Russia] where he embraced Islam. He has received training in a camp of Arab terrorist led by “Abu Dzejta”. He then fought in Chechnya, and later in 2003, organized the terrorist acts using Muslim sleeper cells in Krasnodar. He is considered the organizer of the explosion in the Moscow metro in February 2004.

A former Christian married couple, Vitaly Razdobudko and Maria Khorosheva, accepted Islam and transferred to the Dagestani villages that were under the control of Islamist separatists. Vitali is considered one of the organizers of terrorist attacks on the Moscow airport “Domadedovo”. He organized terrorist attacks in August 2010 in Pyatigorsk and later in Stavropol. In February 2011, the deadly duo activated explosives in a suicide mission in the village of Gubden in Dagestan.

And then there is the Russian actress Ala Saprikin, who converted to Islam to become “Aminat Kurbanova”, and in August of last year she entered the house of worship of Dagestan’s moderate religious Moslem leaders [who cooperate with the Russian authorities] such as Afandi and activated the bomb. Besides her, he also killed Sheikh Afandi and six other people.

Probably the endemic crisis of the broken family life and unstable marriages in Russia is the main culprit behind conversion and radicalization because the Wahhabis are able to relatively easily recruit young Russians. Judging by the number of divorces, Russia is at the top of the world in the ranking by the volume of divorces, immediately after the United States. Alcoholism is widespread in all generations. All this affects the unfortunate and deeply frustrated young people to become an easy prey of bloodthirsty Wahhabis.
