Muslim American Attorney Advocates Sharia Law for Sexual Abuse Cases

This morning, in light of the Harvey Weinstein scandal that is upsetting both Hollywood and Washington D.C., The Independent published an article entitled, How the teachings of Islam could help us prevent more sexual abuse scandals. The article is written by American civil rights attorney and Muslim American activist Qasim Rashid, who claims to have a “special interest in advocating for women’s rights” and states that his “advocacy is informed not just by the law, but by strategies detailed in Islamic teachings and the Prophet Muhammad’s example to pre-empt sexual abuse.”

In possibly one of the worst pieces of propaganda and taqiyya to ever hit the mainstream, Rashid advocates for Sharia to be the American legal baseline when dealing with sexual harassment and abuse in the West. The author scolds Christian congressmen who preach “empty dogmatic theories” and promises that Islam already has a “proven secular model to deal with these issues.” You read that correctly – an American attorney is advocating that Sharia law take over American jurisprudence when it comes to sexual issues. How can one be licensed to uphold the Constitution when their values are diametrically opposed to it?

Rashid starts the article by accusing our Commander-in-Chief of achieving the “pinnacle of success despite the decades long testimony of sexual abuse and rape from dozens of women.” The article also accuses a slew of other republican men who have never been formally charged or convicted of a crime, such as Bill O’Reilly, of contributing to a society that advances rape culture.

Of course, Rashid conspicuously forgets to mention Democrats who are actually convicted sexual predators and pedophiles, such as Anthony Weiner. Weiner is the husband of Hillary Clinton’s right-hand woman and Muslim Brotherhood associate, Huma Abedin. He is currently sentenced to prison for sending explicit photographs to underage girls, with one of the photographs taken next to his infant son in bed. Weiner cannot be within 150 feet of a school, which is why this photograph shows Weiner walking his son to school and saying goodbye from a corner across from the street. There is also Jeffrey Epstein, and lets not forget the former President William Jefferson Clinton, who disgraced the Oval Office and was impeached for lying about it.

Rashid isn’t the only person who tried to deflect Weinstein’s actions onto Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Hussein Obama and even the once-funny Seth Meyers actually tried to put Weinstein and Trump in the same category. After Meyers told Trump supporters to “F*ck off,” he went on to state that America needs to band together against a “systematic problem of misogyny,” as evidenced by Weinstein and Trump wielding so much power.

Let’s clear up Trump’s statements to Access Hollywood once and for all: Trump never admitted sexual assault. The elements of sexual assault are 1.) Committing a sexual act against another without consent; a.) by threatening or placing that person in fear; b) causing bodily harm to that person; c) making a fraudulent assertion that act serves a professional purpose; or d) inducing the belief that the person is another person. No prosecutor could ever press charges against Trump based on that video. The woman who Trump was supposedly talking about in the video has never contradicted Trump’s statement that she consented to being touched. Therefore, as it stands, Trump was never bragging about a sexual assault.

Accusing Weinstein and Trump of being in the same category is par for the course democratic manipulation. What is much more insidious and far more terrifying is the taqiyya propaganda published this morning by an American attorney. Rashid first addresses women’s clothing choices being blamed for sexual assault and notes, “while the Quran obliges women to dress modestly as a covenant with God, Islam prescribes no punishment whatsoever for women who choose to dress otherwise.”

However, the Quran and Hadiths detail a very different story. In Islam, haya is something that Muslims believe every human being is born with, and is the reason Islam has a dress code for women and men to promote modest dressing. The Quran and the Sunnah both affirm there is indeed a dress code in Islam:

“O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed.” (Quran 33:59)

Say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and protect their private parts (from sins); and they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what appear thereof…(Quran 24:31).

When a girl reaches the menstrual age, it is not proper that anything should remain exposed except this and this. He pointed to the face and hands. [Abu Dawud]

Islam also recognize the awrah, which are parts of the body that should be covered. These are, in part, the rules that describe when and where Muslim women can take her hijab off. The Quran and Hadiths have multiple references that Muslim women are to be known for their modesty and haya, and should never make a “foolish display of herself.”

And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent and to draw their veils and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husband’s sons, their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their women, or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women…(Quran 24:31)

Rashid’s article also mentions rape, but only states that the Muslim prophet Muhammad punished an accused rapist on the testimony of the rape survivor alone. While Muslims believe those stories may have happened, Rashid is leaving out a crucial part of the story. In Sahih Bukhari (5:59;462), we see Muhammad establishing the rule that four witnesses must be presented in rape accusations after his child bride and favorite wife, Aisha, was accused of cheating. Three witnesses corroborated the event, but Muhammad apparently did not want to believe it, and so established the arbitrary rule that four witnesses are required.

As evidenced by Muhammad’s actions as well as the Quran and Hadiths, under Islamic law, rape can only be proven if there are a minimum of four witnesses. A woman who makes a rape accusation without witnesses admits to fornication; and a woman who accuses a married man is accused of adultery.

Quran 2:282 Establishes that a woman’s testimony is worth only half that of a man’s in court

Quran 24:4 “And those who accuse free women then do not bring four witnesses, flog them…”

Quran 24:13 “Why did they not bring four witnesses of it? But as they have not brought witnesses they are liars before Allah.”

Quran 2:223 “Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will…”  (Muslims believe there is no such thing as rape in marriage, as a man is permitted unrestricted sexual access to his wives.)

Rashid being licensed to practice law, as well as the Independent publishing this article, are terrifying reminders of where we are culturally in the West, and why we always need to stay vigilant to the daily attacks on our freedoms.
