The Texas shooting you didn't hear about

Trey Sanchez reports at Truth Revolt,

An illegal alien went on a shooting rampage in Austin, Texas last weekend and most people don’t even know because it happened just before the mass shooting at the Sutherland Springs Baptist church in Texas. Given there were no fatalities, and the suspect’s immigration status, the story was buried.

Here’s what happened, according to KXAN:

Late Sunday night Rolando Martinez, 25, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a 2nd-degree felony. Four people including a 7-year-old girl were hit. The child remains in critical condition as of Saturday evening.

Austin police say the shooting began about 2 a.m. Saturday and ended around 3:15 a.m. Calls to 911 came in from multiple places along I-35, stretching from south Austin at Stassney Lane up to Wells Branch Parkway.

Police heard the initial gunshots and found .223 caliber shells in a parking lot of a nightclub. Minutes later, the first call came in that a vehicle had been shot at. About thirty minutes after the shooting began, police were called to three people who had gunshot wounds in their car, including the young girl with a head injury. Martinez drove his vehicle to a gas station and pointed his rifle at customers in the parking lot. They told police Martinez “had a serious look on his face.” Surveillance footage from the gas station confirmed their stories.

Martinez left the gas station and pursued other people with his car, pulling up next to other drivers, threatening them, and ramming their cars. He eventually abandoned his car and fled on foot. Police found 15 shell casings inside his car. Upon his arrest, Martinez said he had been drinking at the nightclub where he began his rampage which stretched over 18 miles of interstate “and didn’t remember much from that night but he did remember waking up in a grassy median near the freeway,” KXAN reported.

The shooter’s bond was set at $1 million. Jail records indicate Martinez had an ICE detainer on file.
