1981: Was it really so many years ago?

Back in 1981, I had just moved to Mexico City to work with an American company down there.  

I took one of my first trips to Monterrey and Saltillo to visit some clients.  

Around 11 am CT, I tuned in a station from San Antonio and listened to the day’s historic events.

I was very happy to hear that Ronald Reagan was elected president.  In fact, I was one of those young Republicans who worked on his 1976 campaign.  I was also active in the 1980 effort!

And I was happy to say goodbye to the Carter presidency, the single biggest presidential failure of my lifetime.
