Unhappy Endings at Ocean Township Massage Parlor

January is not ending happily for five Monmouth County men and two women with Asian names—one from Palisades Park and one from Queens, NY–who were arrested on prostitution charges at  the ABC Spa on Route 35 in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township.

Members of the Ocean Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau started to investigate prostitution at the ABC Spa, 1719 Highway 35, in early January, according to an announcement from Detective Lt. Timothy R. Torchia. 

Yesterday, January 29, the CBI executed a criminal search warrant at the spa and arrested a 55 year old male customer and two female employees.

On January 16, a 70 year old man and a 35 year old man were arrested and charged with Engaging in Prostitution.  The following day,  50 year old man and a 46 year old man were arrested with the same charge.

A 47 year old woman from Palisades Park, NJ was charged with Promoting Prostitution and Maintaining a House of Prostitution along with engaging in prostitution.   A 39 year old woman from Flushing Queens, NY was charged with Promoting Prostitution and Maintaining a House of Prostitution.

The announcement from the Ocean PD included the names of the women charged and not the names of the men charged.  MMM is not publishing the names of any of the defendants unless all of the names are released.

Torchia told MMM that he released the women’s names and not them men’s “because that is the way we have always done it.”  In a follow up email, Torchia said, “As I previously stated on the phone as part of the on-going investigation we hold the names of the males. Sometimes without their cooperation we can’t ultimately obtain search warrants and go after the target locations. I hope you understand our stance in this investigation.”

All defendants charged in this investigation were released with summonses pending a future court date.
