National Anthem Banned at California High School

By definition, progressivism works by increments. For example, Black Lives Matter jackasses start the ball rolling by indulging in disrespectful antics during the national anthem at NFL games. The liberal establishmentarians who run the league encourage them. Moonbat celebrities pile on. Next thing you know, we have gone from jerks having a right to grandstand during the anthem, to the anthem being banned:

Student leaders at a California high school have banned America’s “outdated and racially offensive” national anthem from being played at school rallies.

The Associated Student Body at California High School in San Ramon, in the San Francisco Bay Area, blacklisted “The Star-Spangled Banner” over a third verse that is rarely ever played. …

The verse in questions includes the line “No refuge could save the hireling and slave / From the terror of the flight or the gloom of the grave.”

Few even knew about this verse. But when it comes to tearing down America, any pretext that reminds the belligerently offended that long, long ago there was slavery will do.

Student Body President Ariyana Kermanizadeh explained that the majority who cherish our national anthem must be excluded “so that we could be fully inclusive.”

“[T]his song was written in 1814,” Kermanizadeh said. “This was written 204 years ago. Imagine all the traditions and laws that have changed … [and] so must our traditions.”

It would be fair to assume that Ariyana Kermanizadeh is not invested in our traditions.
