P.C. Bullies Kill Hunchback of Notre Dame Because White Girl Won Coveted Role

The objective cannot be to put on the best possible play. It must be to caste the most persons of politically preferred pigmentation in plum roles. Otherwise, the production will be shut down, as happened to The Hunchback of Notre Dame at a New York school.

Members of Ithaca High School’s Students United Ithaca … got together and wrote up a letter and list of demands after the role of Esmeralda went to a Caucasian peer.

“It shows you that theater wasn’t made for you,” said Maddi Carroll, a member of the Students United group who is African-American. “And it shows you that, if you can’t get the parts that are written for you, what parts are you going to get?”

In Victor Hugo’s novel, Esmeralda is not an African, but a Gypsy. Whites are more similar in appearance to gypsies than blacks are.

Students United’s letter conceded that the student cast as Esmeralda “is a stellar actor, singer, and dancer” and that any production would be “lucky to have her.”

However, talent is irrelevant. Only moonbattery matters.

“Our concern is not with her, but with the fact that in terms of demographics, she is the wrong choice for this role.”

But no doubt they would let a white person play the hunchback, since he is freakish looking.

The group’s demands, listed on its Facebook page, included a cessation of play rehearsals, a stoppage of hiring (production) people who have not “changed their actions” following complaints from “parents of color” and “social justice activists,” and an end to the “racist and openly stated policy of ‘color blind’ casting.”

Being color blind — i.e., not racist — is racist. Moonbattery has achieved maximum absurdity.

As usual, the politically correct bullies managed to spoil the fun for everyone, because no one had the guts to stand up to them.
