ACLU: Troops Do Not Belong at Border

It would be hard to imagine a better use for the military than to defend the border from foreign invasion. A libertarian might argue that this is the military’s only purpose. Strangely, the ACLU says the military does not belong at the border:

“Military troops don’t belong at the border,” director of the ACLU Border Rights Center director Astrid Dominguez said in a statement Wednesday. “Deploying the military in U.S. communities is a dangerous move, contrary to the fundamental norms of a civil society.”

However, this was probably not the case when Obama did the same thing twice (2014, 2015).

Other moonbats chimed in:

The ACLU’s sentiment was echoed by liberal politicians like Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), who called having troops at the border “Orwellian,” and Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, who claimed she would refuse to send her state’s Guardsmen to the border if Trump asked.

Demagogues like Gallego will render the word “Orwellian” as meaningless as “fascist” and “racist.” Defending the border from foreign incursion has nothing to do with Orwell’s warnings about what he called oligarchical collectivism and what liberals call “progress.”

Whether the National Guard at the border will do any good is questionable, unless the troops are actually keeping people out rather than helping the Border Patrol process the zillions of bogus asylum requests by welfare colonists. But at least it sends the right signal; otherwise, moonbats would not be clucking like flustered hens.

Far better would be minefields, backed up by catapults to send back anyone who makes it across.
