Esquire: Yes, We Liberals Want to Confiscate All Guns

Every time the lack of security results in a school shooting, the mask slips further. Usually liberals try to convince us that they wouldn’t confiscate all guns in private hands, not even incrementally. But we are moving past that pretense now. From a childishly snarky not to mention staggeringly idiotic piece that came out on Esquire, the day of the Santa Fe, Texas shooting:

Hey there, NRA:

Listen, I know the moments after a gunman opens fire in a school are hectic for you. You have to get your talking points together, you have to mentally prepare to debate a traumatized yet sensible child, you have to look at yourself in the mirror and practice saying that more guns would have made the situation less deadly. It’s a busy time! And since we are always either in the moments after or the moments before a mass shooting, you’re pretty much always busy, I have noticed!

Anyway, I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I now actually do want to take your guns.

All of your guns.

Right now.

The author assures us that he used to be “ambivalent” about the right to bear arms. But now it is obvious to any reasonable person that extreme measures must be taken…

If moonbattery keeps eroding our national character, progressives may one day be able to disarm us without setting off a second civil war. Will they rest on their laurels, content that when only the government and criminals have access to firearms, utopia has been achieved? Of course not. Progressives progress.

Oligarchical collectivists don’t like gun rights because guns empower the individual. Cars also empower the individual. If it were up to cutting edge progressives, we would only be able to go where public transportation takes us.

In the post–Second Amendment future, the hysteria, hype, and authoritarian militancy that characterize media coverage of mass shootings will be transferred to auto accidents. Every time there is a pileup, the media will scream that AAA did it, and drivers will wonder if this is the year Big Government comes for their cars.
