New Jersey Governor Blames Guns for Trenton Shooting, Ignores Actual Reason It Happened

When geniuses decide to hold an all-night festival in a diverse (population 13.6% white) jungle like Trenton, and a gang-banger who was let out of prison early by other geniuses runs riot and shoots people, what is the cause of the violence? According to New Jersey’s Democrat Governor Phil Murphy, it is our right to bear arms:

The suspect, identified as Tahaji Wells, 33, opened fire before 3 a.m. at the Art All Night festival in New Jersey’s capital city, in what appears to have been a gang-related dispute.

It didn’t take Murphy long to capitalize on the carnage:

Less than 24 hours after the gunfire, Murphy — a former Goldman Sachs banker who served as President Barack Obama’s ambassador to Germany — began calling for gun control without addressing the other circumstances involved in the crime.

Those factors include liberals letting gangbangers like Wells out of prison early.

Wells had been released from prison in February, despite receiving an 18-year state prison sentence in 2004 on an aggravated manslaughter conviction in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man, NJ.com reported.

While still in prison, he was sentenced to an extra 6 years for racketeering. He should have been locked up until 2028. Yet thanks to liberals like Phil Murphy, he was running around loose, with predictable consequences.

Murphy has decried the sentencing and incarceration of people throughout his campaign and time in office as part of his criminal justice reform agenda, which includes a review of sentencing laws in the state.

“Criminal justice reform” means applying social justice by lightening punishment for crimes, because punishment discriminates against criminals. This has a racial angle, due to some races being conspicuously more prone to crime than others. Murphy supports shorter sentencing.

The irresponsibility of public officials like Murphy, combined with the psychotic behavior of the underclass they have developed through the welfare state, are vivid reminders of the importance of the right to bear arms.
