Outlook

A cold front will bring some moisture and rain chances through the morning. The front will quickly cross the area by the afternoon, ushering in cooler and drier air. A cool, autumn air mass will settle over the region Thursday through Saturday before moisture and rain chances return for Sunday and Monday.

State Legislature

The state legislature will not be meeting today. Nor are there any committee meetings scheduled.

Weather Hazards

Hazardous weather is not expected today. Windy conditions are expected to develop tonight. Gusts over 45 mph may develop across the higher elevations.

Areas of frost may develop tonight in the more sheltered valleys of the southwestern mountains. Areas of frost may be more widespread across the mountain valleys Thursday night as winds diminish.

Otherwise, cloudy through midmorning, then gradual clearing, with a high in the mid-60s. Light and variable winds in the morning increasing to come out of the northwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. For the North Atlantic…Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Fifteen, located near the northern Cabo Verde Islands.

1. A trough of low pressure located over southern Mexico and the Bay of Campeche is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. The system is forecast to emerge over the Bay of Campeche later today and move slowly northward. Gradual development is possible, and a tropical or subtropical cyclone could form late this week over the western or central Gulf of Mexico while the system is moving generally northeastward.

* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days…medium…40 percent.
