While “Concerned” About Poisoned Kids in Flint, Obama Bombs Water Treatment Facilities and Power Plants in Syria

by Scott Creighton

At a time here in the United States when the entire country is up in arms about the governor of Michigan ignoring the plight of the people of Flint being forced to drink lead contaminated water for years without regard to their safety or the development of the children of Flint, President Obama’s coalition of the willing in Syria targeted and destroyed a water treatment facility in Ain Issa, just north of Raqqah, which provided important drinking water to neighboring towns and villages in the area. And that was the second coalition attack on water treatment facilities in the regime change targeted country in the past 3 months.

The White House said last week they were “concerned” about the kids of Flint being poisoned with lead because it’s cheaper than giving them fresh water. So far, that’s about all he’s said on the matter.

This tactic of the deliberate demolition of critical civilian infrastructure is nothing new to the Obama administration when it comes to forcing a regime change. It certainly isn’t new in Syria. Back on Oct. 10 215 they targeted two power plants outside Alleppo and then just 8 days later, they targeted another one. And that is to say nothing of the Doctors Without Borders hospital they targeted and destroyed last year.

“I would like to refer to a very important issue related to the targeting and destruction of oil and services infrastructure in Syria by the international coalition. Those attacks aim at destroying the capacities of the Syrian people and preventing development and reconstruction. They are also a continuation of the attacks that have been committed against many vital economic installations and have caused great economic and material losses. On January 3rd, 2016, the coalition targeted a water plant in the plains of Raqqa governance which led to the destruction of the plant which used to provide around 650 cubic meters of clean drinking water for the neighboring towns and villages. Before that, on Oct. 10th 2015, aircraft belonging to that same coalition bombed the Radwaneja (spelling wrong) area east of Alleppo city targeting two thermal power plants. The bombardment caused severe damage to the stations and took them out of service cutting off electricity to the area. The whole western area of Alleppo. The losses sustained amount to 1.2 billion euros. ” Bashar Al-Jaafari, Syrian Permanent Representative to the UN (see video below)

Here is a report from Sputnik mentioning the airstrikes.

“The coalition carried an airstrike near the Syrian city of Ayn Isa on January 3, which targeted five Islamic State-held buildings, according to the release.” Sputnik International

Here is part of the Operation Inherent Resolve official report from Jan. 4th, which mentions the strike;

SOUTHWEST ASIA, January 4, 2016 – On Jan. 3, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted one strike using attack aircraft. Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 25 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using rocket artillery and attack, bomber, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.

The following is a summary of the strikes conducted since the last press release:

Syria
  • Near Ayn Isa, one strike destroyed five ISIL buildings.

This is the map of the area. Ain Issa is approximately 31 miles from Raqqah in the plains of it’s governance.

Sadly, this is not the first water treatment facility the US coalition has targeted in Syria over the past few months.

The Syrian state news agency SANA reported that the US-led coalition conducting airstrikes against purported positions of the Daesh Takfiri terrorists in Syria had bombed the water plant.

“In Syria, the rules of war, including those meant to protect vital civilian infrastructure, continue to be broken on a daily basis,” said Hanaa Singer, the UNICEF representative in Syria, in a statement on Tuesday.

The airstrike which reportedly hit al-Khafseh water treatment plant in the northern city of Aleppo last Thursday (November 26) is a particularly alarming example.” Aletho News Dec. 1, 2015

Bombing civilian critical infrastructure has become standard operating procedure for Obama’s coalition of the willing:

A military source told SANA that warplanes of the Washington alliance violated Syrian airspace and attacked civilian infrastructure in Mare’a, Tal Sha’er, and al-Bab in Aleppo countryside on Sunday.

The source added that the warplanes attacked the biggest electric power plant that feeds Aleppo city, which resulted in cutting off power from most neighborhoods in Aleppo city.

This transgression comes only 8 days after two F-16 warplanes belonging to the alliance targeted two power plants in al-Radwaniye area east of Aleppo city, cutting off power from the area. SANA

This was the second attack in 8 days on the electrical infrastructure of Alleppo. The first was the one that the Syrian representative to the UN spoke about:

RELATED (added by SFP-WP editor)
10 October 2015: Two F16 aircrafts (of the so-called US-led coalition) violate Syrian airspace, target electric power plants in Aleppo. Two F16 aircrafts belonging to the so-called US-led coalition violated the Syrian airspace on Saturday, targeting the infrastructure and destroying two power plants in al-Rudwaniya area to the east of Aleppo city, a military source said. According to the source, the two aircrafts violated the Syrian airspace at 10:00 AM Saturday morning. The source considered the incident a “breach of the international law”. The attack caused power outage in the targeted area, the source added. Syrian Free Press, Oct. 19 2015

While President Obama “weeps” over dead kids in Newtown, he’s giving the orders to bomb critical civilian infrastructure in a country he wants desperately to force a regime change upon. This kind of war crime is in fact a crime against humanity. The collateral deaths and suffering it will cause, is causing currently, is hard to measure. Especially among children who are the most vulnerable to this kind of warfare.

The hypocrisy is stunning from the so-called “progressives” and former liberals of America who are beside themselves over the plight of the children in Flint, Michigan. Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Michale Moore come to mind right off the bat, but you can include many other ThinkProgress types in that mix.

After all, the governor of Michigan is a republican and it is an election year, isn’t it?

While they stomp their feet and screech about man’s republican inhumanity to man, President Peace Prize is blowing up ALL the water supplies and the entire electric grid in Syria so he can get his prize: a payoff for yet another left-cover regime change before he leaves office.

Sometimes I’m just disgusted at the fact that I ever voted for a democrat (for the record, the last time was Al Gore. I figured it out after that one)

Like the man said: “There ain’t a dime’s worth of difference between them”
