Breitbart "News" Threatening to Sue "Major Media Company" for (Accurately) Labeling Them "White Nationalist"

The most popular openly racist website on the Internet, the site that champions “free speech” (read: racism) and being “politically incorrect,” the site that attacks liberals and Muslims and women and anyone else they don’t like with incredibly vicious and demeaning slurs, is now threatening to sue a “major media company” for defamation.

Breitbart’s statement says they were defamed by being accurately described. (Not in so many words, of course.)

“Breitbart News Network, a pro-America, conservative website, is preparing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a major media company for its baseless and defamatory claim that Breitbart News is a ‘white nationalist website,’” the statement reads.

“Breitbart News cannot allow such vicious racial lies to go unchallenged, especially by cynical, politically-motivated competitors seeking to diminish its 42 million monthly readers and its number one in the world political Facebook page. Breitbart News rejects racism in all its varied and ugly forms. Always has, always will,” the statement continues.

At Little Green Footballs, we’ve been chronicling and keeping track of the virulent racism and hate speech that dominates Breitbart “News” for many years. Here’s an LGF search for “Breitbart” with almost 800 results, and if you browse through some of these articles you’ll see some of the absolute worst this poisonous website has to offer.

The discovery phase of this lawsuit, assuming they actually carry out this threat, should be very interesting indeed.

But I admit, I don’t really understand why they see this as defamatory. They’re going to find it difficult to show that their reputation is actually damaged by being described as “white nationalist,” because the knuckle-draggers who frequent Breitbart “News” comment sections see this as an attraction, not a detriment.

Which “major media company” are they threatening, you ask? Well, after this confrontation between Don Lemon and Breitbart hack Joel Pollak yesterday, I think it’s quite possible the target will be CNN.
