“Harvey The Hurricane Hawk”
“A Hawk is seeking refuge in my taxi from Hurricane Harvey.”
“I am being told I will get a knock at my door because a wild hawk is in my apartment. Let them come knock. And if its illegal to have him riding around with me you need to remind him of that. Tried several times now to get him out but he just simply refuses. This is just crazy.”
“My door is wide open. It’s been opened most of the night. Sgt. Hurricane Harvey is free to go anytime he well pleases, but he still refuses to fly away. He simply wants to hunker down with us for now, while we get hurricane drunk. He eats like a hawk (HEHE) and loves chicken gizzards.
He sought refuge with me before the storm on his own. I just want Sgt Hurricane Harvey to be in much better, more experienced, better care and when ready, on his time, fly away free to do hawkin’ things. And at least we have technology to chronicle such magnificent wonders so easily. But after the hurricane is gone, he will leave on his own as soon as now if he so chooses. Or, he may need professional help to maybe rehabilitate him. I just don’t feel its this normal for a predator bird who is a killer like this majestic hawk has any businesses taking up sanctuary with any human on his own free will. So his best interest is VERY much, 1000% extremely concerning to me.”
The bird, who has been nicknamed Harvey the Hurricane Hawk, wasn’t going anywhere once it found shelter. Bruso tried to move the bird but had no luck. Instead, he drove it home and let it hang out at his house until he passed it to the Texas Wildlife Rescue Centre. Miss Ivory Rose from with the TWRC Wildlife Center on the west side of Houston came to retrieve Sgt Hurricane Harvey to better care for him. What an awesome experience!
