Sheriff Israel Calls for “More Power” to Snatch Up Citizens for Online Comments

What have I been saying all along about “common sense gun control”? The following is from CNS News:

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel on Thursday called for more first responders, more mental health treatment, and more power for police to involuntarily commit people who raise what he called “red flags.”

“The Baker Act in Florida allows law enforcement or medical professionals to confine a person involuntarily…but you have to have a reason, you have to be able to articulate that they’re a threat to themselves or a threat to someone else.

So what I’m asking our lawmakers to do is go back to places like Tallahassee or places like Washington, D.C. — give police the power — if they see something on social media, if they see graphic pictures of rifles and blood and gore and guns and bombs —  if they see something with horrific language — if they see a person talking about, I want to grow up to be a serial killer — we  need to have the power to take that person and bring them before mental health professionals at that particular time, involuntarily, and have them examined.

People are going to be rightfully so concerned about their rights, as am I. But what about the rights of these students? What about the rights of young kids who go to school with book bags and pencils, don’t they have the right to be protected by the United States government to the best of our ability? And that’s what we’ll be doing.”

Sheriff Israel said it’s important for people to say something if they see something or even if there’s “something in your gut.”

“If you know anybody right now, if you know anybody — you say, you  know what, this raises a red flag, I was thinking of calling (you). Don’t think about calling us, call us! Call the FBI, call the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, call the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Please don’t remain silent. Please let us know about it.”

Later, Sheriff Israel said there’s nothing law enforcement can do if someone legally owns a gun. “But we can certainly follow up,” he said.

“We can certainly go to visit him, whether he legally owns a gun or not, if we think that red flag goes up and that there’s something not right and we think that this person has a propensity to do such a horrific act, I think police all over this nation need to be empowered to take that person…and deliver him or her to a medical facility where they can be examined.”

Right now we live in a time where the MSM calls you “crazy” if you don’t believe Russia hacked our election. I just got a community guidelines strike and video removed for “bullying” because I dared ask questions about a video from this event. And of course, online trolls are resorting, once again, to their usual tactics:

“It’s so sad to see your accelerating mental deterioration. You used to be far more rational and often informative. Sadly, over the last 12 months you seem far more unstable and paranoid. Maybe you should confront and seek help for your issues.” troll

Folks who argue that the White Helmets aren’t what Hollywood and the press say they are, are also called “crazy”

Now we have this sheriff calling for more sweeping powers from state and federal legislators to be allowed to lock up people or toss them into some form of medical facility to be “evaluated” based entirely on social media statements.

This is extremely unsettling when you look at the types of statements made in this case supposedly by this person:

These images are what authorities like Sheriff Israel are saying are key indicators that Nikolas Cruz needed to be involuntarily detained and evaluated by psychological professionals.

Apparently it escapes the good sheriff’s attention that not one single one of these most threatening social media posts can positively be identified as Nikolas Cruz as they are all wearing masks.

In the one image that could arguably be attributed to Cruz, he’s holding a toy, not a real gun.

Imagine this country in the summer of 2016 if law enforcement had the authority to lock up people due to online comments made that someone somewhere deemed “a threat”

Of course, back then we were voting for either a man who bragged that he was so rich he could sexually assault any woman he met by grabbing them by their genitalia…

or a woman who made this statement in front of a camera before an interview:

In White County, Tn. Sheriff Oddie Shoupe recently found himself in trouble because he was recorded saying “I love this shit, I thrive on it” regarding the killing of an unarmed man for not having a drivers license and refusing to pull over.

What would Oddie Shoupe consider “behavior that raises a red flag” I wonder? Would it be the same as your definition? Would it change over time? Will it change for Sheriff Israel in the run-up to 2020 election? Or his next reelection?

You see, that’s the problem with giving people this kind of absolute authority: you never know what they will do with it. What would the Ferguson cops have done with it or James Comey for that matter? Or the FBI back in the days when they were “investigating” MLK Jr. and the Black Panthers?

Just for the record, questioning the Russia hacking story is considered a “conspiracy theory” as is bringing up the connections between al Qaeda, ISIS and the White Helmets. There are tons of them out there like these and all, by someone or another, are considered “conspiracy theories” because they reject the official stories told us by our complicit media.

Even thinking the media are on the take is considered a “conspiracy theory”

So now, Sheriff Israel is calling for not only the core part of “common sense” gun control that I have been warning about for years (stripping people of their second amendment rights due to a ruling from an arbitrary court based on social media footprints that may not even be yours) but it also seems he is going even further calling for your basic right to freedom be suspended as well based on the same flimsy criteria.

The results of this kind of legislation that Sheriff Israel is calling for will undoubtedly be massive self censorship by folks worried about being declared “unfit” due to their personal opinions and beliefs.

Yes, Google and Facebook and Youtube and Twitter are going to try to control the next election cycle by scrubbing away the wrong-think from the interwebs before the next election so we don’t have a repeat of what happened last year.

But this… this kind of action is even worse as it will make people censor themselves.

That about says it all doesn’t it? He doesn’t want to have to show a reason… to “articulate” to a judge that someone is a threat. What he wants is the power to take a screenshot of a comment supposedly left by a citizen and lock them up in some kind of mental ward.

And if you think to yourself I just a “conspiracy theorist” for suggesting something like this can be very dangerous in the hands of the wrong people in a society… remember, there is precedence.

Political abuse of psychiatry is the misuse of psychiatry, including diagnosis, detention, and treatment, for the purposes of obstructing the human rights of individuals and/or groups in a society.^[1][2]:491 In other words, abuse of psychiatry (including that for political purposes) is the deliberate action of having citizens psychiatrically diagnosed who need neither psychiatric restraint nor psychiatric treatment.^[3] Psychiatrists have been involved in human rights abuses in states across the world when the definitions of mental disease were expanded to include political disobedience.^[4]:6 As scholars have long argued, governmental and medical institutions code menaces to authority as mental diseases during political disturbances.^[5]:14 Nowadays, in many countries, political prisoners are sometimes confined and abused in psychiatric hospitals.^[6]:3[7]

In 1971 detailed reports about the inmates of Soviet psychiatric hospitals who had been detained for political reasons began to reach the West.^[33] These showed that the periodic use of incarceration in psychiatric institutions during the 1960s (see the biography of Vladimir Bukovsky) were now becoming a systematic way of dealing with dissent, political or religious.^[7]

Drapetomania was a supposed mental illness described by American physician Samuel A. Cartwright in 1851 that caused black slaves to flee captivity.^[38]:41 In addition to inventing drapetomania, Cartwright prescribed a remedy. His feeling was that with “proper medical advice, strictly followed, this troublesome practice that many Negroes have of running away can be almost entirely prevented.”^[39] In the case of slaves “sulky and dissatisfied without cause”—a warning sign of imminent flight—Cartwright prescribed “whipping the devil out of them” as a “preventative measure”.^[40][41][42] As a remedy for this disease, doctors also made running a physical impossibility by prescribing the removal of both big toes.^[38]:42

In 2010, the book The Protest Psychosis: How Schizophrenia Became a Black Disease by psychiatrist Jonathan Metzl (who also has a Ph.D. in American studies) was published.^[5] The book covers the history of the 1960s Ionia State Hospital located in Ionia, Michigan and now converted to a prison and focuses on exposing the trend of this hospital to diagnose African Americans with schizophrenia because of their civil rights ideas.^[5] The book suggests that in part the sudden influx of such diagnoses could be traced to a change in wording in the DSM-II, which compared to the previous edition added “hostility” and “aggression” as signs of the disorder.^[5]

Whistleblowers who part ranks with their organizations have had their mental stability questioned, such as, for example, NYPD veteran Adrian Schoolcraft who was coerced to falsify crime statistics in his department and then became a whistleblower. He was forcibly committed to a psychiatric hospital.^[55]

You will notice that line “governmental and medical institutions code menaces to authority as mental diseases during political disturbances” might just have multiple political applications these days:

Right now folks will argue that none of the questionable social media examples belonging to Nikolas Cruz are political in nature. I would argue differently. His statements about killing Antifa members for example. His racist comments toward Arabs are another arguably. How many of those can be attributed to him 100%? I don’t know. Maybe all. Maybe none.

But that’s not the point. You give a weapon to those who serve the political economic class of this country and they will use it and that is exactly what Sheriff Israel is asking for.

Things in this country are going to get worse before they get better. We might even be headed for a large scale war in the Middle East or on the Korean peninsula. What better time than now to establish all the tools they need to silence dissent before they have another summer of 2002 on their hands? Or another Battle for Seattle?

Take what you will from the events of Feb. 14th 2018. Planned or not the results are the same: the establishment are seeking to expand their power in a way that has been abused over the course of history by many states and it will be abused. Of that you can be certain.
