Obama vs. Lincoln, King, Reagan, and Mandela

This essay is by a yellow man (i.e., Bob Uda) who observes a half-black and half-white man (Barack Obama) versus two white men (Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan) and two black men (Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela).  What did Lincoln, King, Reagan, and Mandela have in common?  They brought a divided people together.  President Abraham Lincoln, after leading a nation in a deadly, divisive Civil War, brought the North and South together to rebuild a war-ravaged nation.  Dr. Martin Luther King led the civil rights movement in America and brought together black and white Americans (divided by prejudice and racism) with his assassination and passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1968.  President Ronald Reagan introduced the dawn of a new day and motivated a depressed nation to work together to better our American life.  President Nelson Mandela, after serving 27 years in prison as a political prisoner, cast aside hatred and anger by humbly bringing together a fractured world through the uniting example that he lived and displayed.

Even with 95% of all blacks and most of the Hispanics and many other minorities voting for him, a sufficient number of whites elected Barack Obama president in 2008.  If that number of whites had voted for Obama’s opponent, John McCain would have been the president.  Hence, without the white vote, Obama would never have become president.  Consequently, Obama started his first term with the greatest momentum of any president in modern U.S. history including Presidents John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.  Many considered Obama as a modern-day messiah.  President Obama had the whole, wide world in his hands.

Unfortunately, President Barack Obama spent the first five years of the eight years of his two terms dividing our nation.  He started out by first saying, “We won; you lost.”  His approach was for Republicans to sit down and shut up while he and his Democrats would take care of saving the people and the nation.  However, because of poor performance and results during his first term, Obama’s campaign for his second term was “to divide and conquer” the nation.  Despite tremendous odds against him, he successfully defeated Mitt Romney for the presidency by applying Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.  The Democrats demonized Mitt Romney through “politics of personal destruction” and divided the nation by catalyzing racism and dividing the people into the “haves and have-nots.”  It worked beautifully.

President Obama started his second term with all kinds of problems weighing down on him, not to mention the least being the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as ObamaCare.  Barack Obama is now at a crossroads.  He can do what President Bill Clinton did to turn things around during his second term, or he can stick to his guns and continue to ramrod his democratic socialist policies down our collective throats and go down to a miserable defeat.

At this point, Obama can “snatch victory from the jaws of defeat” by changing his approach or be bull-headed about it and watch his legacy go down in flames by “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.”  It is our great hope that Barack Obama will change and cast aside his demagoguery and socialistic ideologue and, instead, work to bring together and unite our fractured nation.  His quest to “spread the wealth” (i.e., redistribution of wealth) is simply not working.  Hence, he must be flexible and practical and to try something else.  He must bring together the Democrats and Republicans instead of destroying the Republicans to achieve a one-party system in the United States.

President Barack Obama could become the greatest U.S. president ever if he will cast aside his failed policies and exercise the ways of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Ronald Reagan, and Nelson Mandela.  We hope that President Obama will perform a do-over and become the great leader that he can become, or he will have a miserable final three years of his eight years in office.  Our nation cannot stand three more years of the same past five years.  Please consider this recommendation, President Obama.  Save our nation from imploding over the next three years, and the American people will laud you as the greatest ever president of the United States (POTUS).  It is your choice.  We hope that you will choose wisely.
