How to create personal runic talisman

Runes are powerful, when properly used – beside runic formulas, and even more useful runic bindrunes (both of which has been described in details in my e-book about nordic runes), even without more complex knowledge, everyone can create powerful personal runic talisman. In this post, I’ll teach you how to do so.

Tools of the Trade

What you need in order to create such runic talisman is few things – a piece of wood and knife to engrave the symbols, or piece of stone and something sharp or electrical to engrave the norse runes. You will also need some leather strap to turn the talisman into pendant. Now, we can get to work.

A little bit of theory

But, you also need theoretical knowledge – you need to create a sacred space for magical ritual, and you need to design the talisman. Personal runic talisman is made with letters of your name, written down with norse runes. So you need to learn norse runes alphabet. Most of runes represents first letter of their name – so, Fehu stands for F, Thurisaz for T (or TH) etc. But, Elahaz (Algiz) stands for Z. Keep this in mind.

Here’s simple table with transliteration

For example, Nathan will consist of: Nautiz / Ansuz / Thurisaz / Ansuz / Nautiz

Creating personal runic talisman

Now, that you have prepared your sacred space and tools of the trade, when the incense is burning and candles gives weak light, take the piece of wood, and draw (using pencil) the symbols to engrave. Then use the tools you have to engrave the symbols. While doing so, keep in mind the intend of what you want the talisman to do - protect from negative influences.

You can then paint the talisman with natural ink – I like black colour, but tradition requires for runes to be painted red. In the old days, Druids and runemasters were using their own blood to do so, but I don’t recommend it – for obvious reasons.

Try to always use natural material, tools and inks.

Charging

When the talisman is prepared and painted, it need to be charged with elemental energies – simple by hovering it above smoke and fire, and placing in water and ground. Finally, you need to take the talisman, close your eyes, and visualise energies charging the talisman with your intend (yep, it’s similar to psychic energies programming).

Et voila – that’s all you need to know in order to create personal runic talisman. Turn the talisman into pendant, and keep it with you all the time, and it shall protect you.
