Anna Hill, Lead Investigator of ALPS

Question: Tell me something personal about yourself, such as your family life, where you were born and raised, hobbies, recreational activities, favorite song, favorite movies, favorite TV shows, places you have traveled to, etc.
Answer: I was born in Sacramento, raised in East Nicolas. I’m a mother of 3 kids, ages 12-16. My hobbies include MMA (since my husband is a pro-MMA fighter). I love music, love rock concerts. I have been raised around music my entire life, it’s very important to me. I’ve met many rock stars. I love tattooing. I have several. I’ve worked in nursing for 10 years, I’m working towards being a paramedic.

Question: When did you create Angels of Light Paranormal Society?

Answer: I started ALPS last November. We are still in the process of fine tuning things. Working towards recruitment during this summer. We had 4 girls to begin with, but being a mommy and having jobs…things took their toll. We are now operating as a subdivision of VSPS

Question: Can you name the people in your group and tell me what their positions are?

Answer: Myself Anna, the lead investigator and Laura McCall, my orbs and EVP specialist…

Question: How are you connected to Valley of Shadows Paranormal Society?

Answer: We met VSPS over a year now…comparing notes and went on a few investigations with them. After some time, we realized that we all worked really well together, so we joined forces. It just made sense. Our girls were more on the intuitive side, while the guys at VSPS were more tech guys. We are a very good balance of both worlds. I have since become a case manager. I work with Chris Cockream, Joey Presswood, Cal Anstead, Corlie Presswood, and Daniel Vega…..they make VSPS

Question: Can you tell me some of the best places you have investigated?

Answer: Noyesburg Cemetery, also known as Witches graveyard in the Sutter Buttes, Silver Dollar Saloon in Marysville, A private ranch owned by a friend of ours in the Buttes. This ranch has sort of served as a training center for us. It’s very rich in positive spiritual energy. It was home to Pomo Indians, as well as a well-known historical family in the area. Because of the nature of our friend’s career, he keeps the location very hush hush.

Question: Tell me about your best investigation and what made it the best investigation?

Answer: A private home in Yuba City…site of a suicide and a brain aneurysm. We could actually see orbs in transit…visible with the human eye. My group witnessed a shadow figure, we gave chase, snapping photos we caught nothing. With the night cam we caught orbs in motion where the figure was seen. It was very moving to see how the brother reacted. They are a very guarded Christian family who didn’t talk about these things. I think of us being there, we gave confirmation to what they had seen for years.

Question: How did you get interested in the paranormal? Have you ever had any paranormal experiences before you became an investigator?

Answer: As a young child, and even now as an adult…I have had sleep paralysis. A terrifying condition in which you are stuck between being awake and REM sleep. Your mind is awakened, but your body remains asleep, paralyzed to keep you from reenacting your dreams. During this mid-stage of awake and sleep, it is noted that people witness hallucinations when they open their eyes. This is where the Incubus and the Succubus derived from. This terrified me as a child. Also, at the age of 13 I lost my mother tragically. I believe the night of her passing she came to say goodbye….weeping in my bed I felt her hand brush across my cheek. I instantly felt the sense of calm. At the age of 23, I lost my father to pancreatic cancer. The day before he passed away he called to me from his bed…thinking something was wrong I rushed in. With urgency he asked me to get his Audubon’s bird watchers book, thumbing quickly through the pages he told me. “I want you to know, if there is more to this life, long after death…I will let you know” He opened the page to a beautiful bird, a hooded Oriole, which was not native to the valley. The bird is a beautiful contrast of black and yellow. He told me of his times back packing through the Sierras, he would see this bird and it was his favorite…and he got a sense of calm from it. A week after his passing, I hadn’t had much time to grieve, but it had caught up with me this one day in particular. I broke down after crying for an hour or so…I sat up on my couch and looked out the window at my lavender tree outside…there sat a hooded Oriole. I had the most overwhelming sense of calm come over me. I had no doubt it was my dad saying that things would be ok, that he had arrived and that he was ok too. That was my turn around for the paranormal. No one could ever convinced me that life after death doesn’t exist.

Question: Tell me about your dad’s UFO experience.

Answer: I’m honestly not sure if you would call it a ghost story, or a UFO story…lol. It was sort of a series of events that happened over a few nights that shook my dad, which in fact shook me, cause he didn’t get upset by this sort of thing. The first night he was on the Sutter Bypass fishing alone. This wasn’t an odd occurrence since he fished a lot, alone. He knew the bypass very well. There was a fallen tree that crossed over the moving water. Each end was surrounded by swift water.. which made it not easily accessible. He had been out cat fishing well after dark when he noticed a glowing light which looked like a cigarette being lit. Even though it seemed completely impossible that anyone would be out there, he called out..”catchin anything out there” as quick as he asked the light smoldered and then it grew greater in intensity. As it grew to a ball shaped sphere, it was out. It disappeared into no where. My father jumped to his feet…barely retrieving his pole from the water, he tore down the dirt roads fish tailing every which way. By the time he reached home he was sheet white…sweaty and shaking. This was quite startling, he was always a man of reason. Never one to consider anything paranormal..he just knew THIS was not normal. A few nights later my dad, my brother and I went out to the bypass to fish (a different location, and I think he was a little scared to go alone ha ha). Now this is going to be a little difficult to describe, and at the risk of sounding cliché…there was these three wide turquoise glowing cigar shaped things in the sky. Once again, my poor father terrified again, loaded us up in the truck and got outta there like a bat outta hell, hahaha. There was no movement, they stayed stationary, and there was no noise. I don’t know if he put the two things together and concluded they must be involved, but I don’t think he ventured out to the bypass alone after that.

Question: I heard you are also an animal advocate, just to let you know I am too. I have been involved with Greenpeace in the past and I will do everything in my power to help animals in need. Can you tell me about your pets and the 7 puppies that you rescued?

Answer: My family and I were recently riding quads at the river bottoms. And the kids stalled their quad in a mud puddle. And that must have been a godsend, because the kids heard whimpering and movement in bushes right next to the puddle. It was 7 puppies! A week old! My heart sank. There was no mother and there was these tiny shivering, freezing cold little puppies. The sun was setting and there was no doubt they would die. Fortunately, I bred Boston Terrier pups and had some puppy supplement milk at home, I swooped them up and took home, these terrified little orphans. Then I realized, how am I going to feed these 7 little babies every two hours 24/7? I quickly went to face book where Jennifer Roland of Roland Paranormal worked her magic and got me in touch with CHAKO a Pit Bull Rescue, and within 3 hours I was meeting with them in Lincoln. My little puppy angels were saved!

Question: You are truly a hero Anna! You were an angel for those puppies and I thank Jennifer Roland for setting you on the right path! You both are heroes in my eyes! Wow! This is a great interview, you mentioned you met some rock stars, can you tell me who those rock stars were and where did you meet them?

Answer: Ha ha, I happen to know the guys from Hollywood Undead and their families. I went to the 48 hour festival in Las Vegas and managed to get myself a VIP pass for 48 hours of pure rock and roll. I met many rockers backstage including Disturbed, Godsmack, Sevendust, Five Finger Death Punch, Korn, Butcher Babies, and so many others. I also met Seether. Their music has meant so much to me in my life…their albums played non-stop. I had the opportunity to tell Shaun Morgan, the lead singer how his music changed my life. Single handedly one of the most experiences of my life ha-ha. Music has always been important to me and my family. On one hot summer day in Verona, my father was jamming with his band across the levee from Pinky’s Bar and Grill. Special Note: Pinky’s Bar & Grill is a known haunted location. Little did he know on the river was some of the Grateful Dead! It seems they were playing at Cal Expo and inquired about the best place to go fishing. They were directed to little Verona, ha-ha. SO hearing the music, they came over the levee and listened and even asked to join in. Cool, right? Note: Anna’s father at this levee played with Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.

Paul’s Comment: Wow! I love this, I went to the Monterey Pop Festival and saw Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and the Doors, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin. I had back stage passes in Sacramento to see Heart and other groups I saw were: Grand Funk Railroad, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Buddy Miles in Stockton during the 60s, great concert until the Stockton Skulls Motorcycle Gang got into a riot with the police and we were all tear gassed, including myself.

Question: Hey, you did not mention what movies, TV shows, your favorite song, favorite books are, can you tell us?

Answer: I love anything that is comic book related, Super heroes ha-ha. I love visually stimulating movies like Sin City, Suckerpunch. Anything Quentin Tarantino is always good! And yes I am a ghost show watcher! Ha-ha, I’ll always love Ghost Hunters, not much of a Ghost Adventures fan. And I am a reality show fan…..Celeb Rehab, Hoarders, Intervention…

Answer: Just keep educating yourself when dealing with the paranormal. It’s such a wonderful field because no matter what you know, you’ll never know everything. We all have something to learn.
