Answer: I have a pretty big family, I have 3 sisters, wonderful parents and an amazing fiancé. I enjoy reading, swimming, softball, the deaf community and going on investigations. I went to Rosemont High School and then graduated from Albert Powell. My favorite authors are Sandra Brown, Greg Isles and Lisa Unger. My favorite movie is Disney’s The Little Mermaid. I enjoy music way to much to have a favorite song.

Question: I believe you were telling me that your first paranormal experience was when you were a freshman in high school; can you tell us about that?

Answer: It was Halloween, my friends and I set up an Ouija board. My mom had an old half broken Halloween decoration that has an evil laugh along with an organ playing. We had it set on motion sensitive. All of my friends and I had been trying to get it to work, it didn’t. Once we had the Ouija board set up we were hoping to get someone to talk to us. It was all of our first times. Luckily, someone answered our questions. He was a service man. I asked him if he could show us that he was there, all of a sudden I heard something go off, and I thought it was someone at the door. So I break contact and go see what’s happened. My mom is sitting on the couch with a shocked expression on her face. She says the old Halloween decoration that doesn’t work went off. My mom is also the biggest skeptic ever. I shake my head in disbelief and go back to the Ouija board; all the candles we had lit were blown out. I asked everyone what happened, they told me the candles blew out when I left. Ever since then I have been sensitive to paranormal things around me.

Question: Why were you playing with a Ouija Board? Were you just curious about the paranormal?

Answer: I had always had an interest in the paranormal. I just hadn’t know how or what to do to reach it. So I decided to buy a Ouija Board and see what I could do to get closer to the other side.

Question: You were hanging out with the Wiccan culture, were you also attracted to this belief? Are you a Wiccan?

Answer: I had some interest in the Wiccan culture, it was another thing that I had interest in but wasn’t sure how to get into the culture. I met someone who was involved in it and dabbled in it a little bit. No I am not Wiccan.

Question: Your next experience was when you were a sophomore, can you tell me about that?

Answer: I was at my Wiccan friend’s house and she told me she had a ghost in her room, I didn’t believe her, I was still being a skeptic. Later on in the night I started having a really bad headache, which for me was out of the ordinary. She told me that this ghost gave her headaches. I also felt cold patches and I felt like I was being watched the rest of the time I was there.

Question: Melissa, you had a traumatic event in your life. The loss of your son. Can you tell me about the paranormal experiences you had after the demise of your son?

Answer: I was 5 and a half months pregnant when I found out that my son (Elijah) would be born with a crippling disease. I had to make a choice; I chose to stop his suffering. He passed away on December 8, 2012 at 11:40 am. I came home a few days later. Once I was home things started happening. Items would move from where we originally left them. It was like things were just being hidden from us, just like a little boy would. In one case my fiancé Nicholas Thompson had left his ashtray in our room. We left and came home to find out the ashtray had completely been moved. We searched everywhere; finally we found it on our son’s altar. I felt cold patches a lot. I would feel them around my stomach or around my arms mostly.

Question: I see that you still have a strong interest in the paranormal. Do you enjoy being a member of HPI as a paranormal investigator?

Answer: I absolutely love being in HPI. It’s something that I look forward to every weekend. It always so interesting and I always get to meet new and interesting people.

Question: Fun question. If you had 6 dinner guests, 3 fictional and 3 historical, who would they be?

Answer: My first guest would be Ariel from The Little Mermaid, my second guest would be Belle from Beauty and the Beast and my third guest would be Jasmine from Aladdin. The three historical guests I would have are, Helen Keller, Albert Einstein and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Question: Do you have any words of wisdom for your readers?

Answer: If something traumatic happens in your life, do your best to pick up the pieces and keep carrying on. I know it’s difficult but in the end it’s worth it. Nothing happens without a purpose. We may never know the reason behind it but there are just times in life where great things fall apart so even better things can come together. Never lose faith.

THE BRYN BANN STORY:
May 1, 2013, Wednesday. Time: 1800 Hours. Location: Starbucks, 1340 Franklin Road, Yuba City, CA. Person being Interviewed: New Paranormal Investigator Bryn Bann – Trauma Nurse.
Note: In case any of our investigators are injured, Bryn will be on the scene. Her paranormal story: In 2007, her mother had gall bladder surgery. Some how her mother acquired an infection at the hospital. The infection progressively got worse. The doctors had to perform a tracheotomy on her mother. Her mother after the surgery, passed away and Bryn had to make the grim decision of taking her mother off the life support system. Bryn was overwhelmed with grief, she had an empty feeling. Then all of a sudden, Bryn sees a hologram like image appear in front of her. She saw her mother in the hologram, she appeared to be about 35 years old, in a white dress. She could see her mother skipping down the road. Her mother turned around and waved at her, with a big beaming smile on her face. From the shadows a hand appeared and it went to touch her mother. The hand formed shape, with an arm, then a body and then Bryn realized it was her deceased father. Her mother and father both looked at Bryn, waved good bye to Bryn and went down a hill and vanished. Everything in the scenery was beautiful. The scene was very beautiful and there were bright colors everywhere. Because of this experience, Bryn has become very interested in the paranormal and seeks answers. She has now joined HPI and ready to go on HPI’s paranormal adventures!

Location: Coffee Garden – 2904 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento. Main Topic: Abnormal Paranormal.
After we got our coffee at the Coffee Garden, we then moved to William Land Park to accommodate the attendees. I brought Lisa, Louise and Shari with me to the park. After passing around a party bag of M&Ms, I had a little contest. I asked: Tell me where the first stories of the Chupacabra originated at. Shari says: ‘Puerto Rico’. This was the correct answer and she won a book called: The Omega Project by Kenneth Ring, PH.D. At this meeting we discussed pitching our own reality show called ‘Abnormal Paranormal’. This paranormal show is strictly character driven. We also discussed our upcoming investigations, the A&E TV pilot and possibly investigating the town of Downey and the Green Valley Vortex. This was a very productive meeting.
