Real Encounter w/ H.P. Lovecraft Elder God

There are many who believe H.P. Lovecraft was in contact with other realms and there are magickal systems built around invocations meant to summon these beings. – JP

 

My first experience with the Typhonian Current happened when I was quite young.  I had no idea about or label for it.  It started with dreams and then later on manifested in physical symptoms and obsessions.  There weren’t that many visuals at first, it was mostly sounds and sensations; a sudden presence in my room, a sound of whispering waking me up in the middle of the night, a sound which persisted even though there didn’t seem to be anything/body there.

 

I was obviously scared about it and since I was brought up in a home where the existence of spirits and demons was assumed, it seemed that they were targeting me for some reason.  I didn’t tell anybody though and figured out my own ways to feel safe.  Sometimes it involved saying prayers or singing in the middle of the night.  Sometimes it involved getting up out of bed and investigating, even going out into the night to try to figure out what was haunting me.  I never really found anything except nocturnal mammals and birds outside, although it was fun to prowl around the neighborhood with everyone else asleep.  I don’t know if kids dare to do that anymore unless they’re living homeless in the city and have no choice.

 

I thought everyone had vicious nightmares and terrors.  The nightmares were always very elaborate dreams about being chased through tunnels or being forced to confront beings/monsters that wanted to eat me.  I just couldn’t deal with the movie “Jaws” at all.  It wasn’t until I was almost an adult that I was introduced to the notion that some of these experiences might be classified in specific ways.  Since I was curious and had become rather accustomed to lack of sleep on occasion, I began my occult investigations.  

 

Fortunately, I’ve had some really good occult and spiritual teachers who have encouraged me to go slow.  As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to protect myself (that protection really only matters so much in the physical and astral planes) better and have figured out how to govern those emotional and obsessive impulses that can make one vulnerable to any kind of intrusion.  Word to the wise: if you have any major debilitating addictions, sexual obsessions or psychological baggage, take care of it.  Do not attempt to reach the Elder Ones while on drugs or alcohol, they will alter your mind enough without it.

 

 My first full body awake experience of the Keeper of the Gateway, whose name I will not write here, mostly because the popular Lovecraft name is not actually “his/its” name as I know it, occurred while I was staying with a friend as we attempted to exorcise some truly major nasties that were accosting a row of townhouses in suburban Wichita.  

We had done the initial work, set up parameters and wards, gotten some results and decided to continue the next day.  A couple of us went to sleep in a room that had been set apart as a spiritually safe quarter. 

 

Well, it wasn’t so safe.  I was awakened suddenly, probably around 3am by a sound I can’t even describe—it was like a squishy, clanking sound and I couldn’t tell where it was coming from.  My back was towards a wall and suddenly, through the wall, I felt something seize me from behind.  My eyes were open, I could clearly see the room and my sleeping companion, who was dead to the world.  I tested myself to see if this was a dream or astral projection (I’ve had a few of these, not many, but just enough to know how to tell the difference) and it wasn’t either.  I was fully awake.

 

The grip on me from behind began to morph into a kind of sucking…it was like I was being held by a vortex of some kind, or a mouth.  I could feel a cold heat, like how something really cold will still burn you and I could “see” in my mind, not with my eyes, that what had initially grasped me were tentacles, but now there was this mouth.  And a voice.  I have no idea whether the voice was telepathic or audible, but it said: “Yes, we will ensnare you through your weaknesses.  It is through your fear we come,” or something to that effect.  I knew that “it” was going to try to suck me into the wall (the haunting we were trying to exorcise had been the result of some individuals who had been murdered and walled up inside one of the basements in the complex that we were trying to exorcise, so I knew it had something to do with that).

 

Oddly, although I was very scared, I didn’t panic.  Nature, God, or whatever has afforded me some very good reflexes and one of these is deeply rooted righteous anger if someone attempts to mess with me.  I developed this response as a child and it enabled me to escape my father when he tried to beat me in the name of Jesus.  I remembered some of my exercises, raised my energy and began to fight to hold myself in place.  I don’t know how long the fight went on, but it was for awhile.  The energy would squirm and move about, trying to get a better hold on me, suck me out.  I just kept changing and moving too.  I knew I couldn’t give up.  

 

All at once, it stopped.  Just like that- I was released with a kind of popping sound.  I got up looked around and there was no sign of anything I’d just been through apparent on the wall or bed, except that I was soaked with sweat.  I  laid back down and fell asleep. Oddly, I knew I’d be fine.  I didn’t tell my friend who’d slept in the same room about it right away the next morning because I didn’t want to scare her.  I did tell my spiritual teacher about it later in the day.

 

I’ve confronted this being a couple of times since, but he/it no longer tries to just grab me.  His/its identity was revealed some years down the road—but that’s often the way it happens with me—I’ll have an experience first and later on figure out what the hell was going on.  What I do know now is that these beings are profoundly connected to deep, foundational cosmic psychological structures that have provided the groundwork for material existence. Actually, they are those structures, so they are inside of you as well.  Collectively, they are the Id of the Id of the Multiverse. They will brook no weakness, but one can approach, or be approached by them from a position of absolute personal integrity (and this has nothing to do with any particular morality necessarily).  I do not invoke them, but am open to exchanges.  They are amused by people who worship them or ask for boons…they really don’t care that much.
