September 9, 2013, Monday: Paranormal Hotline receives an incoming call from Canada. Norway Fergusen is identified as the caller. Norway made claim that during a visit to the French Fort Cove, he saw what he believed was a headless woman dressed in black walk towards him. He was petrified in fear as the ghostly image of a headless woman walked right up to him, and then walked through him. When he had enough nerve to look back, there was nothing there. What I believe Norway saw, was the infamous Headless Nun. 

Stories about the Headless Nun date back to the mid 1700s, the Headless Nun was an 18th century resident of the area named Sister Marie Inconnue (Inconnue being the French for ‘unknown’) who was subsequently beheaded. There are many variations of the story. In one story an insane trapper cut off her head and ran into the woods with it. In another, two sailors cut off her head after she refused to divulge the location of a treasure. Legend has it that Sister Marie’s head was never found, resulting in her spirit forever roaming the area in search of it.

Also Noted: I discovered that they give Headless Nun tours at the French Fort Cove. Could it be that Norway simply heard the story and reiterated it back to me, in which he is the witness? Who knows?

WHERE IS THE FRENCH FORT COVE?
In Canada! But, to be more precise, The French Fort Cove is a nature park located in Miramichi, New Brunswick, between Newcastle and Nordin-Miramichi, which contains regular and advanced walking trails, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boats, a children’s playground, ice-cream shop and holds many events and activities during the summer. It is the location of a former rock quarry which was used to build many local buildings and the Langevin Block of Parliament Hill, among others.

Now that there has been a report sighting of the Headless Nun, make sure to watch Fox TV’s Sleepy Hollow, and watch the Headless Horseman come to life! The Headless Horseman is one of my favorite ghost stories! See the trailer below!

Very good article about Minden/Gardnerville. Another thing to note though we are 20 minutes from Genoa a hot spot of both ghost activity and Bigfoot sightings. A&E just recently did an documentary about Bigfoot Sightings of the Sierra featuring Genoa. Many of these sightings happened in the saddle back above Genoa Lakes Golf Course. In 1882 there was a large avalanche in this town that took the lives of 10 people. The spirits of a particular house that was completely demolished have been said to be one of the hauntings of the area. I have not witnessed this, but I have heard many stories of people that had personal experiences. Within Minden/Gardnerville is the Washoe Native American Indian Tribe a lot of their land is sacred. 10 minutes from my house there is an Indian Burial ground on the hill. It has been neglected for years by the tribe, ending up as a dumping ground basically. Many sightings have happened at this location as well. I encourage HPI to gather a group, not just with Scott’s house, but to come out and look at these locations. The Flour Mill is closed to the public from last I have heard….but I can find out more about that through my contacts in the County. They can’t tear the place down, but last I heard the Bentley family owned the building.

Cory..if I knew about this information beforehand…it would have brought more enthusiasm for my members to make that long drive to Minden. Wow! Wish I knew about this sooner. Yes, plan out an itinerary and we will be down during Spring time! So much to explore, I can’t wait! 

Follow-up with Michelle Lane, Paranormal Experiencer:
Paul: After the HPI investigation of your home, how did you feel?

Answer: Scared to death, since the investigation I have been sleeping with a nite light and leave my microwave light on in the kitchen.

Paul: Did you have any more paranormal experiences that occurred in your home after the investigation? If you did, can you explain?

Answer: I still felt the pressure on my back, like someone was slightly pushing on me. My daughter when we skype still sees a cloudy substance close beside me, (She says it hard to explain what she sees) she has taken several pictures and they look like to me a dark shadow beside me with little tiny crosses, to the side when she original saw the cloudy substance. Note: Some of the pictures are unusual, but I did not have any 2nd photos to compare them with. One picture looks like a halo on the ceiling, but could this have been caused by the night lamp? 

Paul: I noticed you have a new addition to your family. A dog named Boo Boo. What kind of dog is Boo Boo and did you get Boo Boo, because of the paranormal activity in your home?

Answer: Bo Bo is a Maltipoo, No I didn’t get him for and paranormal activity, friends kept telling me a needed to get a dog to keep my mind off my grief and keep me occupied.
