% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Probably not I’m pretty sure but still pretty interesting to look at. Does anyone know where these come from or any back story to them? I have a friend doing a mermaid book and they asked me if I knew. I don’t know. Maybe from a movie set? If someone knows let me know in comments and I’ll forward the info to said friend. - JP

REAL MERMAID CAUGHT ON CAMERA ! in Kiryat Yam, Israel:

History of Mermaids:

The first known mermaid stories appeared in Assyria, ca. 1000 BC. The goddess Atargatis, mother of Assyrian queen Semiramis, loved a mortal shepherd and unintentionally killed him. Ashamed, she jumped into a lake to take the form of a fish, but the waters would not conceal her divine beauty. Thereafter, she took the form of a mermaid-human above the waist, fish below—though the earliest representations of Atargatis showed her as a fish with a human head and arm, similar to the Babylonian Ea. The Greeks recognized Atargatis under the name Derketo.

Since then, many other mermaid stories have appeared in folklore from various cultures around the world. For instance, the African water spirit Mami Wata is mermaid in form, as is the water spirit Lasirn, who is popular in folklore in the Caribbean Islands.

I doubt mermaids would have eyelashes.

The site u shared just posted that article like a few days ago. Which is odd. They just found out? lol I thought they looked familiar. BIN apparently doesn’t like this article it got removed from the line up but the stupid baby Mermaid crap gets to stay up? I plainly said above the article I didn’t think it was real and was asking for a friend. I’ve seen much worse posts here from certain people. Some people here post articles that simply just say they aren’t going to be here for the day which is more ridiculous than Mermaid postings if you ask me.

Wow those dudes can act, someone get that man a contract. I mean really, how many times do you need to say “I don’t think that’s a seal”, and the fact that the cameraman needs to create suspense by partial zooming, then turning the camera away.

I have some photo images of a merman that are quite clear and revealing.

He looked, in death, more serpentine, with a fish-sort-of mouth.

If I could upload the 3 images, I would.
