It’s that time again. Deanna Jaxine Stinson and I, will be working with Don Christensen and Nancy Williams of Ms. Morrison Shortbread. If you don’t know, Ms. Morrison’s Shortbread is world famous because they won the Betty Crocker Cook-off. If you sample Ms. Morrison’s shortbread, you will know why. You can sample the traditional, chocolate chip, lemon, cinnamon, white chocolate macadamia, almond amaretto. So delicious, so mouth watering. When you have the chance, check out their lime curd and lemon curd too. A great way to tantalize the tastebuds! I met some interesting people at this festival. I met Maureen McGrath of Silver City, New Mexico. She claims that there is a leprechaun that lives in the basement of her New Mexico home. This leprechaun was invited into the home by her father. The leprechaun who is 6 feet tall loves to hand out St. Patrick’s Day presents to the family. Once he gave a statue of a leprechaun to the head of the household. He loves wearing green and has cherry red cheeks. His favorite meal is potatoes and sausages. VENDORS:
There were many vendors for food, music, jewelry, Scottish memorabilia, various animals from cows to dogs to horses to sheep, clothes, hats. You name it and you can find it at the Scottish festival. The vendors that stick out in my mind are:

This one stand where Deanna ordered Mozzarella cheese, mushroom, onions, lettuce gyro and I ordered a lamb pita. Mmmmmmmmm.

The Family History of Surnames. For $23.00, I was able to obtain my wife’s family history, she is from the Stinson Clan. When I was in Edinburgh, Scotland, I obtained my clan’s history – The Roberts. - The Angry Brians – Iligitimus Non Carborundum – this band has some great beats and they gathered a huge crowd that went wild to their music. They were giving the Wicked Tinkers a run for their money.
According to Randy Russell and Christie Ferreria of Clan Inebriated, the Wicked Tinkers are the official Scottish band for Clan Inebriated and the Angry Brians are the official Irish band for Clan Inebriated.

If you don’t know what a Skye Terrier is, they are a breed of dog that is a long, low, hardy terrier and “one of the most endangered native dog breeds in the United Kingdom” according to The Kennel Club.

Randy Russell & Christie Ferreria

The final people I met on this day – 4/25/2015 were Randy Russell – Email: [email protected] – Board Member of WAVE TV – Cable Channel 21 and his daughter Christie Ferreria. Randy and Christie explained to me that Club Inebriated was not invited this year to the Scottish Games and Festival. They tell me that this clan welcomes anyone to their clan, no matter what race, what color, what creed, etc. With Club Inebriated, you feel like you are part of the family and that they represent the joy and spirit of the Scottish games and festival.
They believe that some people believe that Clan Inebriated stands for Scottish or Irish people getting drunk and Christie says that is not what they are about. Christie had a petition with many signatures of attendees. The attendees want Club Inebriated back. People wearing the t-shirts took a large group shot with the Wicked Tinkers. Randy says that Dennis Strawhun and Kelly Strawhun are the founders and owners of Club Inebriated. Dennis is the clan chief for Clan Inebriated and Randy reminds me, that anyone can join this clan.

Today, spent $20.00 cash for Banger & fries, vegie sausage for Deanna. Yes, the festival has some great food! Deanna couldn’t get over how good her veggie sausage was.

One of the fantastic vendors they had this year at the Scottish Games and Festival was the Bodice Goddess. They sell hand made renaissance clothing such as bodice, chemise and skirts. One of the fun things that I enjoyed watching at this festival was the beard and mustache contest. After the contest, the sounds of the Wicked Tinkers and Angry Brians resonated through the air.
