I was waiting for this.  It’s as predicable as rain in the Everglades.  Take a good look as this is a barometer of how far we have slipped as a people, a society a nation.  Here’s the forward on Lawlessness from the Days of Chaos book.  I wrote a chapter on this and I’m glad I did.  Business as usual?  Love, light, laughter and rainbows!  L.A.

Chapter 8: Lawlessness

Lawlessness is a sign of the collapse of a society and the people of that society’s disdain for the rule of law.  A case can be made that lawlessness in its extreme became the reason for our American Revolution.  One of the rallying cries was taxation without representation.  In other words, the American colonists grew tired of illegal search and seizures (TSA PAT DOWN ANYONE???), onerous taxes going to the King of England, homes being seized, and private property confiscated or commandeered by soldiers of the Crown.

England looked at our discontent as rebellion, and we should never forget that had we lost our War of Independence, the leaders, like Thomas Jefferson, Washington, Franklin and others, would have been thought of as traitors to the Crown and hanged by the neck.  Their collective actions would have been defined as lawlessness.

However, this is not what I’m talking about here.  The framers of the Constitution believed in the rule of law, and this is why our Constitution is so important to every American as it provides the framework for our country and our civilization.

What we see manifesting in modernity is lawlessness: the complete disregard for human life, liberty, property, or civility.

We are seeing what I would term the collapse of Western Civilization, and in the words of the late Dr. Stan Monteith of Radio Liberty: 

“Well, Dr. Stan here at the Genesis Communication Network. coming to you from the hills overlooking beautiful and picturesque Monterey Bay and bringing you the news behind the news, the story behind the story. Hoping to convince you that reality is usually scoffed at and that illusion is usually king, but in the battle for survival for western civilization it’s going to be reality and not illusion or delusion that will determine what the future will bring.”

Every Black Friday—the day retailers begin to make a profit—we hear about stampedes by crazed shoppers at places like Walmart or Target.  We have people willing to fight each other for a $12 toaster!

People will push, shove, yell, and if one patron falls to the floor, he or she will be trampled and injured—in some cases resulting in death—by other shoppers who are only interested in their feeding frenzy.

Then, we have the game of knock-out where a random person is selected and then sucker punched in the head.  The object is to see if the thug who is throwing the punch can knock the hapless victim out with one punch.

Gangs roam the streets, graffiti is sprayed everywhere, and there is little regard for human life.  We hear about crazed baseball fans beating a fan from the opposing team to death… and this over a baseball game???!!!

High school and college students will haze other students often resulting in death.

If a football team wins the Super Bowl, or a baseball team wins the World Series, often the city of the winning team erupts in violence and cars are burned, store-front windows broken, people go crazy and lawlessness abounds.

We have reached what I would consider a nadir in our culture, as there is but a very thin veneer of civility, which can erode at the slightest provocation.

This is why there are police forces in every town and city throughout the U.S.A. The government knows man’s proclivity is toward violence and disorder, toward lawlessness.

However, with the rise of cell-phone video capability, we have witnessed the rise of police brutality, starting perhaps with the Los Angeles Rodney King beating.

I was living in the Santa Monica Mountains, north of Los Angeles, when the verdict came in that basically exonerated the officers. The African Americans burned down stores, looted shops, destroyed cars, and created a lock-down on Pacific Coast Highway so no cars could travel north.

This was lawlessness on steroids, and now in 2015 we see the same lawless spirit manifest itself in places like Ferguson and Baltimore.
