Why Do We Follow Barbaric Rules?

I think one of the biggest problems we face in our society is that we follow barbaric rules.

These rules tend to differ from religion to religion, country to country, state to state, city to city. People who study “The Teaching” know that “The Creation” only provides us with recommendations on how to live.

Free will has no barbaric set of rules, only the natural laws that govern us currently. These primitive rules might have started as suggestions to live a proper way, but it has turned into laws for morality. Laws and rules that society is constantly changing, switching, refining, reforming, etc.

We also have laws that can get you sentenced to death in one place, but not a neighboring state. A state where the size of the knife you carry could put you behind bars. A city where you can smoke marijuana that’s been decriminalized or medicinal but 100 ft away could lead to prison time. What is morality? And who gets to decide what is right or wrong? God? 

A lot of rules and laws do seem to stem from the 10 commandments, which was falsified by Moses (Get the original 12 commandments here from Billy Meier’s Decalogue). Religion definitely could be blamed for the amount of rules and laws that are scattered throughout the world.

As more of the world gains free will to believe and think what they want to think and believe, do we become freer? Yes, I think so – but we’re still all enforced with rules and laws in different ways, but do we have free will to not follow rules? Not without repercussions. Justifications are made daily not to follow rules. Maybe simple rules like downloading movies, smoking pot, cheating taxes etc. Things might be easier to justify that could have big repercussions but the risk is low. Are some rules meant to be broken?

Another place where we can be forced to follow rules is our jobs. “I was just doing my job.” could be one of the biggest justifications we use.

“I was just doing my job,” says the CEO of a big business.

“I was just doing my job,” says the cop.

“I was just doing my job,” says the military woman or man.

People can kill people and say “I was just doing my job.” How often when doing our jobs do we say “No”? Does a person in the military get to say no? If so they might lose their jobs. Losing your job or your freedom is most likely what would happen if you started making your own rules, right?

I think it’s entirely up to the individual to decide what is right or wrong for them. Can we make our own rules when we have a boss, leader, or god? It would seem that in some fashion we the people we’ll be forced to follow some rules that are not natural laws until there is a complete change.

What would this change be? The end of all rules! Is that in our future? What would happen to say if a murder took place in a world with no rules? Without rules is there still repercussions? There has to be, a person who chooses to kill for no reason deserves something. Who decides the repercussions? I don’t necessarily have that answer but I know it’s time to start discussing it. Can we live in a world where no rules govern us? Yes! We have to.

That is “Natural Law”.

Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University, conducted an experiment focusing on the conflict between obedience to authority and personal conscience. He examined justifications for acts of genocide offered by those accused at the World War II Nuremberg War Criminal trials.

The experimenter (E) orders the teacher (T), the subject of the experiment, to give what the latter believes are painful electric shocks to a learner (L), who is actually an actor and confederate. The subject is led to believe that for each wrong answer, the learner was receiving actual electric shocks, though in reality there were no such punishments. Being separated from the subject, the confederate set up a tape recorder integrated with the electro-shock generator, which played pre-recorded sounds for each shock level.[1]
