BREAKING: New National Poll Shows Hillary Retaking Lead Big Time Over Trump, Post-Debate

(Before It's News)

The new CNN/ORC national poll is out, and it shows Secretary Hillary Clinton at 51% and Donald Trump at 45% in a head-to-head matchup, a difference of six points (which is outside the margin of error, obviously). This is the first CNN national poll since last week’s debate when Trump failed to score any real hits against Clinton.

This reverses a trend in their fortunes pre-debate. It’s a full 7 point shift toward Hillary, who was down by one in the previous poll.

When the third party candidates are added in, Clinton’s lead drops to five points. (Once again, the third partiers cause Hillary to lose more than Trump.)

Note that in the four person race, the shift is also a seven point swing toward Hillary.

From CNN:

Hillary Clinton emerges from the first presidential debate with a five-point lead over Donald Trump in the race for the presidency, having narrowed the enthusiasm gap between her supporters and Trump’s, and holding broad advantages over the Republican nominee as the candidate with the right temperament and preparation for the job, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.

One interesting data point is the change in enthusiasm. Trump surrogates and campaign staff are frequently on cable news, including CNN, citing an “enthusiasm gap” between Trump and Hillary. While I can’t imagine what it must require to be enthusiastic about either of these knuckleheads, there does appear to a shift among likely voter in this poll.

The poll, conducted entirely after last Monday’s presidential debate, finds Clinton’s supporters increasingly enthusiastic about voting for president this year (50% are extremely or very enthusiastic now, up from 46% earlier in the month), while Trump backers’ enthusiasm has ticked downward, from 58% to 56%.

The poll has a +/-3 margin of error. There’s more to unpack from this poll, and we’ll have that coverage for you here at RedState.
