It also emerged that authorities are dealing with about 550 “live” cases at any one time. The figures were disclosed by Neil Basu, the deputy assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan police and new senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing. The official threat level for international terrorism in the UK is severe, meaning an attack is highly likely.
