Hurricane-force winds could hammer Pacific Northwest | 15 Oct 2016 | A powerful storm system rolling out of the Pacific on Saturday is likely to bring damaging winds — possibly at hurricane-force levels — as well as high surf and heavy rain from northern California to western Washington, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service issued a hurricane-force wind warning until early evening for coastal waters from Cascade Head, Ore., to Florence, Ore. The system, a remnant of Typhoon Songda out of the Western Pacific, was moving in a northeasterly direction on course to barrel up the coast from northern California to Washington state.
