US, UK, Saudi Arabia supporting Israeli expansion
Not only are these borders artificially drawn, they highlight the utter insanity of fencing an entire population in the world’s largest open-air prison simply because of Israel’s need to maintain a Jewish demographic majority.
Summer days are long, but in Gaza, they are longer than one might think. They get even longer when the electricity and the internet are shut off, which is most of the time. This had been my daytime nightmare ever since Israel imposed its siege on the Gaza Strip in 2007. To escape it, you could read or visit a friend to talk to, but when the weather gets hot and humid, the energy to do any of these activities evaporates.
On one such hot and humid day, I went to the roof of my house out of boredom. Although this was not the first time I had looked at the landscape from my family’s rooftop in Deir Al-Balah, some thoughts and reflections made this day unforgettable. I looked east and there were the borders between the Gaza Strip and Israel, and I looked west and there was the sea. From that same spot, both borders were visible, and between them, the familiar scene of innumerable drab houses stretching towards both horizons.
At that moment, I recalled one of the famous common sayings used by Palestinians in Gaza to refer to the Strip: we’re trapped ‘min al-silik ila al-silik’ (from the fence to the fence). This simple phrase sums up Gaza’s current reality: a fenced place, surrounded by dead-ends and, within it, a caged human sea with almost no hope or future. Such thoughts never abandoned me. They chased me most of the time I spent in Gaza, where I observed how the Strip grew ever more overcrowded.
‘From fence to fence’ is a simple enough expression, and yet it reflects the geographic space Palestinians inhabit. For them, ‘the fence’ is the most pernicious manifestation of the Zionist conquest in 1948, and its continuity into the present. The fence is a physical barrier that was imposed by an external force, which divides what the Palestinians in Gaza consider as their historic land, and which prevents them from returning to their original towns and villages. The fence is a constant reminder of the rupture caused by the 1948 War, which pushed many Palestinians out of their towns and villages in what is today the State of Israel.
Even when some Gazans refer to the armistice line of 1949, few people refer to it as a border. It is mostly referred to in Arabic as ‘al-silik’ — literally, ‘the wire,’ or ‘the fence.’ For the Palestinians in Gaza, the fence evokes the Nakba, the refugee struggle, and the occupation. The fence, as a physical barrier to refugee return, was the beginning of the tragedy. The fence today is its continuation. And since the fence caused the problem, the solution must include its removal. The fence is the history that Palestinians in Gaza never want to forget, and no amount of aid can induce them to do so. read more here………Global Research
MY PERSONAL CALL TO THE SOUL OF HUMANITY
J’ACCUSE HUMANITE ! I ACCUSE HUMANITY !
Crying out to almighty God for redress and issuing an URGENT and DESPERATE CALL to the SOUL OF ALL HUMANITY, if indeed it still lives and is able to respond !
I raise my voice once again in DEFIANCE, PROTEST and ACCUSATION, as I did in October of 1982, in response to the horror that was Sabra and Shatila, actions that left me ashamed of being a member of the human race, shocked and in extreme disbelief at the silence of the entire world in its response to the atrocities that were committed there.
You did not echo our voices of PROTEST nor did you support our DEMANDS FOR JUSTICE.
That notwithstanding, because I cannot in conscience do otherwise, I STRENUOUSLY raise my voice once more and J’ACCUSE !
I ACCUSE YOU , YOU, the ENTIRE WORLD !
I ACCUSE YOU of silent indifference, unbelievable and inhumane apathy, permissive allowance and, by YOUR INACTION, of CONSENT to horrors that were and are being repeatedly wrought against your fellow brothers and sisters. I accuse you of REPEATEDLY blocking the investigation and administration of JUSTICE in CRIMES against the suffering PALESTINIAN PEOPLE, CRIMES which constitute CRIMES AGAINST ALL HUMANITY…of GENOCIDE, and COMPLICITY IN GENOCIDE ..of ETHNIC CLEANSING and COMPLICITY in and of the SAME..of the KIDNAPPING, IMPRISONMENT, TORTURE and MURDER of those who are the MOST DEFENSELESS..of the MOST VULNERABLE…of CHILDREN ! Indeed, I ACCUSE YOU of DEPRIVING them of their VERY LIVES in ABOMINABLE SCHEMES of MONSTROUS GREED and the ILLEGAL, IMMORAL and HEINOUS SALE of THEIR BODILY ORGANS !
Even as I REISSUE this call and again MAKE THESE ALLEGATIONS, I am PAINFULLY AWARE that my actions might be met with the SAME FATE as those of 1982.
I am also acutely AWARE that I am APPEALING to the SOUL and CONSCIENCE of ALL HUMANITY to STOP THESE HORRIBLE ACTIVITIES, to ARISE from its INACTION and embark on a PATH of REPENTANCE, REDEMPTION and CORRECTION. I am PLEADING for nothing short of the RECLAMATION and RESTORATION of the VERY SOUL of HUMANITY !
PRAYING with my WHOLE HEART that YOU WILL HEAR, HEED and ACT UPON this CALL of my SOUL, a CALL that is being sent out to ANYONE, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that is HOLY, MORAL, NOBLE and JUST !
Standing firm with INFINITE HOPE in YOUR RESPONSE,
With all the LOVE I KNOW,
P.S. Who can tell, even as I write this, perhaps a CHILD is being KIDNAPPED, IMPRISONED, TORTURED, and SEXUALLY ABUSED. After enduring this, he is MURDERED, his BODILY ORGANS HARVESTED, his BODY being RETURNED to his OVERWHELMED and GRIEF STRICKEN PARENTS minus VITAL ORGANS and with a HORRIBLE SCAR from the NAVEL UP TO THE THROAT ! This is not some scene from an Edgar Allen Poe HORROR STORY, this is an actual scenario that OUR BROTHERS and SISTERS FACE on a DAILY basis.
If there be any REMNANT of HUMANITY LEFT in this WORLD, PLEASE PLEASE, TAKE a few MINUTES and SAVE LIVES by SIGNING, SUPPORTING AND SHARING the PALESTINIAN PROTECTION PETITION ! BELOW IS THE LINK !
“It is not the angry voices of our tormentors that will be remembered long after, it is the SILENCE of OUR FRIENDS.”
PLEASE , DON’T BE SILENT.
